Thank you in advance !!!:):)

What Dreambox do you have and what image is it running?

Welcome to the forum :)

I think you can connect the DM500 to an ethernet bridge and that'll connect wirelessly to the router.

It's been asked a few times before - if you search for "Ethernet bridge" in the Dreambox section you should find some old posts discussing it.

I just had an idea would a pay as you go mobile broadband router would be enough ? i think so won't you ? its up to 3.6 mb

Enough for what? What do you mean by mobile BB router- one connected to a mobile phone?

The "normal" way to give a Dreambox internet access is to connect it to a router that has internet access.

i know it is a internet access but its works as a mobile router its basically a usb modem connected to a router which you can share your mobile connection, the router has a Ethernet plug which i can connect to the dreambox then :)

Hi Bo,

I assume you mean one of the Huawei D100's or similar (see attachment)?
They cost £60 to £70 and need a Huawei 3G USB modem plugged into them.
If so, then so long as you have a good enough signal from the service provider, it should work fine.
The one in my attachment, despite being tiny, is a full 802.11b/g wireless router too!

Good luck & best wishes, John.

Can you connect to the community wireless connection by just entering a passphrase/key in your wireless connection dialogue, or is it like a wireless hotspot (Unsecured wireless Network) where you are prompted with a login screen in your browser?

If its the former, a Linksys WRT54G (£30 - £40 new) router should be enough. It would connect to the wireless net and distribute the connection both wirelessly and wired through your home.

If its the latter, I don't think you will be able to connect unless you come to some arrangement with the network administrator.

Thanks all !! ;)

the usb modem worked just fine and its up and running till now !!

thanks again all for your help :):)
