There was little old me with a picture in my head of a fishing pole, 20 meters of coax, with a LNB on the end, fishing for for a 2.4 M CM

eBay... sadly, most are crappy 'exhaust' type poles with a paper-thin 1.5mm thick wall. But since my dish will be a few cm off the ground, I don't need it excessively strong.

OK...question: how can I hide this butt-ugly thing? Will a large plastic container over it be OK? Will keep the rain out as well... and keep the neighbours happy.

Didn't you check pictures before, of T90 installations CJ?
T90's are only for real (preferable single) men who don't give a f**k!

But of course, you can build a radome around it.

Am not divorced - my wife *hates* the T90 and my spaghetti-like cabling :)

I was offered a radome on the Finnish forum the other week. Not sure how easy it would be to ship to the UK though...

I looked for some radomes online but couldn't really find any. Need to figure out the measurements first and put something around it.

Uhmm, OK need help.

Installed the dish today but having some issues... So, I followed this site to calculate the skew angle, which is around 105 degrees and set about aligning to my central satellite, which is 19.2e (want to get between 42e and 1w). The LNB is on the centre of the bar (ish) and is the 'skew' on the LNB holder is set to 0.

I am getting pretty good signal on Astra 1 at around 16dB (though, not as strong as I expect) but this drops off nicely to around the edges. I can just about lock 42E at around 8db but I cannot lock 5E Nordic, which is hanging at 6dB and 1W Nordic beam is also under lock (Focus Sat one should be OK though).

Am I expecting too much from around the edges or is there some trick to this?

The trick is picking two strongish sats and lining up on those. So you have 19.2E at centre - dial in 28.2 as well and the others should just drop into place. Note that I (rightly or wrongly) have skew on all the LNBs (16 or so). I can get 45E to 5W with extension bars, although not particularly strongly. Calculating the dish skew is one thing - fine tuning it by hand is another :)

28.2e was strong-ish as well but that comes in on a saucepan lid here... I'll try and play with it a bit later.

Wet tea-towel trick? I get the spotbeam at 12dB or so in clear weather (BU twin, dish centred on 19.2E) so I guess in Somerset it should be coming in so strong it bites your arm off.

7e as center, got 17db from 1N and some others 19's, some db less from other 19's according to footprint here. Looking at the maps, UK +T90 could be capable of 17db from all the 19e sats ?

I am getting decent signal now from within around 10 degrees from centre (19.2e). Even 26e comes in. 28e is strong... 42e is 12db, which isn't brilliant for it but not bad. Still no 5e Nordic and no amount of tweaking seems to be bringing it in. 1w also weak on non-European beam but some are locking.

Now... question on config in Vu+. I am using my second tuner for the T90 dish - if I configure the same satellite on tuner 1 (motorised) and tuner 2 (T90), which tuner will the receiver pick? I seem to remember a setting somewhere to set tuner priority but I can't find it now.

I am rather annoyed that I cannot get 1w and 5e properly. Half the channels come in and half don't. These are not the strongest positions here anyway but Penta 85 has no problems with them (in focus). So on the edges, the T90 is equivalent to a 70cm dish-ish (on my setup anyway).

So... I can either bring the dish closer to the west to bring 1w and 5e more into focus but I will lose 39e - unless I extend the range with a bar of some sort. And potentially gain 5w?
