Much to @Lazarus's delight, I am starting yet another project. Not a complex one but I've never done a T90 installation before.

I have bought 10 LNBs along with the T90 itself and the EMP 16/1 switch. This will feed my Vu+ box.

The satellite positions I'll be setting up will be: 1w, 5e, 9/10e, 13e,16e,19e,23.5e,28e,39e and, if I can stretch to it, 42e... and maybe 5w on the other side. I will probably also install a 30W dish (a Sky Zone 1 one) to get the full whack.

The dish will be painted to blend in and I am even allowing the wife to plant her flowers around it (as a returned favour for allowing to install the thing in the first place). The pole will be buried in the ground and the dish will sit as low as possible.

Any tips on installing the thing will be appreciated!
 
Sorry CJ no tips, but I'll be interested to see how you get on with 28E and 23.5E. I tried with both using the TD88 on my multisat and couldn't succeed...
 
Well, even ignorant me made it work quite quickly after reading a little here and there, so you will surely get a big success :O)

About mods, the square-head lnb holder screws have proved helpful here, pictures in The Dish Wall

The lnb holders could be better (metal \ better tolerances, idea for an aftermarket product...) but got no problems finding an ok lnb position using a little time & patience, and once tightened up they stay in place.
 
1°W to 42°E is exactly the range I had on a T90 until a few years ago. With the positions you listed, all LNB's can be IBU (I assume single).
If you include some narrow ones (Alps etc.) on the strong satellites, 3.1°E, 7.0°E, 21.6°E and maybe even 26°E can be done as well (the latter may be too weak in UK).

Keep some distance from the ground, otherwise rain splashing on the ground will made the sub-reflector and LNB's dirty too often, and it's no fun to clean all these!

Good point. Will see what I can do there...

The LNBs are cheapo Maximum-XO11(?) - don't need anything fancy, all satellites I am after on this are strong.
 
28E and 23.5E
Attached, 23.5 eu from t90, & the 'eu wide' is stronger. For 28e, currently got a tree exact in that direction, but the EU's gets through, 28e not a goal for the t90 here. But would imagine in northern France it would perform very well for 23,5 eu wide & 28e.

They are excellent imo. The 23,5 attach. is from a x0.

Don't want to hijack CJ's thread, but I've given up on 23.5E ATM and will try again on another dish..I've had it before and it came in no problem..

On my T90 centred on 19.2E I have them both *easily*.
 
Don't know what 10E footprint is like there but 9E/10E on a single LNB does not work for me.

5W/7W works but with 2 LNBs.
 
If of any use. Here's T90 10e from 9e adjusted lnb. Gets channel titles, but no picture.
9e 14db range vs 10e 4db.

Looks like it could work from certain locations + accepting the level compromise between the 2.

I used to get 10E/9E OK on an 80cm looking at 19E in Helsinki.

Looking forward to reading more about your setup. Would love a T90 on my balcony in Helsinki if only it would fit but a standard TD88 is as big as I can go before I block access to the balcony door! (I had very briefly contemplated blocking the door off and climbing into the balcony from a window...)
 
Shirley it would be possible to get a custom built bracket to accommodate the dish and allow you to open the door?

It's not the bracket that is the problem but the physical size (width) of the T90. The balcony is small and narrow and is set back within the building rather than protruding out. The south facing wall with the best satellite view contains the door. Building rules state that everything has to be within the balcony too, nothing can stick out.
 
Motorised telescopic arm! We know a man with a new toy in his garage that may be able to supply something to " fit the bill "
 
Yeah, stick the dish on a hinge so it moves out of the way with the door opening.
 
Trust me, it won't fit on a hinge or anything else except maybe Brian's telescopic arm but let's just concentrate on your more realistic T90 here... ;)
 
Decided to take a break from Laminas and take the opportunity to do some work here in the 5 minutes we had without rain.

Dig hole - check
Put the dish together - check
Find a suitable pole - err.... it takes 60 mm pole, which I don't have. I have 50mm and 76mm, none of which remotely fit. So had to order a new one.... more cash.

So Timo, if you have any remaining from the CM, don't throw it away!
 
Could have done but ordered some 60mm inox pipe. I have other things to do like making up 10 fly leads for the lnbs...
