What are the differences betwen DVD-R ,DVD+R , DVD-RW , DVD+RW

Hi ppl I have the following DVD Discs :- DVD-R , DVD+R , DVD-RW , DVD+RW . Could anybody explain to me technically what are the differences between DVD-R & DVD+R And DVD-RW & DVD+RW regarding recording formats .

Any thought You would have be greatly appreciated .

Put simply R is writeable and RW is re-writable the rest can be gleaned from the many articles available on-line by googling
So rather than re-invent the wheel perhaps if you just read one of them for example this one

the main thing is, all are ok :)

they will all burn, and they will all play back.

Most modern DVD writers support all of them.

if like me, you own a Pioneer DVDRW-112D then its burns all of them plus the dual/double layer discs too (8.5gig)

Needed for my Xbox360 games :D

Just to add to the guide posted,

DVD-R uses constant linear velocity (CLV) - where as DVD+R uses constant angular velocity (CAV). It may sound overly technical to be important but many older DVD players can only deal with CLV and therefore play DVD-Rs better than +Rs, so if you plan to play the DVD on an older stand alone player DVD-R/RW might be a better choice.
