ELVIS is know to be a highly popular model and a very powerful one too, but I had better not point out the best place around to show all the features in case that is considered advertising.

The only upgrade ELVIS can do itself is with the latest Windows and DOS software, but this model also supports a firmware upgrade just in case new hardware features are added.

Anyway at the end of the day ELVIS is the most popular card programmer around, which is thanks to my support of this once hardly known model and the people who believed what I said.

I think Beardedwonder is probably referring to the Millenium upgrade chip, to enable the programming of cards other than the Gold wafer.

Ok rolfw I think you now asked for it. :-]

The ELVIS by default (when I know of no special upgrade) can program these...

PIC Microcontrollers...

PIC16CR83, PIC16F83, PIC16C84, PIC16CR84, PIC16F84, PIC16F84A, PIC12C508, PIC12C509, PIC16C554, PIC16C556, PIC16C558, PIC16C61, PIC16C620, PIC16C620A, PIC16C621, PIC16C621A, PIC16C622, PIC16C622A, PIC16F628, PIC16C62, PIC16C62A, PIC16C63, PIC16C64, PIC16C64A, PIC16C65, PIC16C65A, PIC16C66, PIC16C67, PIC16C710, PIC16C71, PIC16C711, PIC16C72, PIC16C73, PIC16C73A, PIC16C74, PIC16C74A, PIC16C76, PIC16C77, PIC16F876, PIC16F877, PIC16C923, PIC16C924.

Atmel Microcontrollers...

AT90S2323, AT90S2343, AT90S8515, AT90S8535.

EEPROMs...

24x00, 24x01, 24x02, 24x04, 24x08, 24x16, 24x32, 24x64, 24x65, 24x128, 24x256.

Smartcards...

Gold (16F84 and 24x16), FunCard / PurpleCard (AT90S8515A and 24x64/24x65), Jupiter / PinkCard (AT90S2323 or AT90S2343 and 24x16), SilverCard (PIC16F877 and 24x64/24x65), CashCard, and BlueCard (PIC16F84 and 24x64/24x65).

Oh yes and I have to soon add GSM Sim cards to that list.

And so ELVIS can program a damned load more then simple Gold cards, but the Millenium programmer is famed for its Gold support. While I have seen a few software changes I have not yet seen a Millenium program more PIC type than just the PIC16x84.

Well anyway I don't know what he is on about, but if you are looking for the next important software update (adding SILVER card types etc under Windows as well), then the name for this is highly likely to be called MP8.

They could go to MP7 I suppose, but a total rewrite should ideally go to MP8.

The MP7 beta adds a few extra features, but as it loses a few as well, then I have always preferred MP6.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Jan-02 AT 06:10 PM (GMT)]Yeah Yeah,

I'm fully aware what the "Elvis" does, I've been on your web site and have in fact bought from you. What I was simply trying to say was that the poster may be confusing the hardware upgrade on the millenium with the beta software on the "Elvis". Particularly as on a previous post he had mentioned the Millenium, when obviously meaning the "Elvis"

Rolf

PS. Not trying to start a war, life's too short. :)

Also if the Millenium has a realistic upgrade available then I certainly want to hear about it, when I suppose some things are possible if you replace some components.

As to War then I am trying to be the last poster in the top four subjects in this group. So watch out when my nukes are armed and my finger is on the button. ;-)

Hi
I think the upgrade you refer to is an upgrade of the programme, that drives Elvis .Ad-Teknik know that some people are having trouble with the programme ,myself included, and they promised a upgrade before Christmas, but it's not materialised yet.

The latest news on their site says January, but from what I hear then even that is unlikely.

Still as I have been awaiting these MP additions like the latest cards for over a year, then it is already long overdue.

These two sites mention it.

Still doesn't make it as versatile as the "Elvis", but at east makes it a tad more flexible.

Yes I see.

So there is now one additions in that it can now program the Silver card and PIC relatives.

Maybe a fine addition if you already own this model, but compared to ELVIS buying one would be a mistake. When I have seen like 10 times more ELVIS upgrades in the past year, then with this model in the past three.

Well it is interesting to see that there is still life left in that old model.
