I was recently watching the Soyuz landing and they briefly cut to a shot of their uplink dish and I've never seen such a type of dish. It is obviously designed to be portable for field deployments, but what band would it be using? Im guessing its a military bandwidth so probably not something us normals can tune into.

Sorry for the terrible screenshot, it was only visible briefly and its infront of a tent which doesn't help things.

And here's me thinking it was from a Comag Camping kit

Almost certainly s band (1.9-2.2GHz)

Now im wondering what satellite haha! It was a HD feed too, two of them, so im impressed S Band can do that.. I guess with the right modulation it can do anything.

I really want one, it looks damn cool!

Looking closer at the mechanical ports behind the dish, it could be operating at a somewhat higher frequency (though they could be dehydration equipment for the electronics).
Similar reflectors have been used on the Apollo mission (moon rover) as well as the early Inmarsat terminals, being lightweight and folding up into small spaces.

I carried out evaluation a couple of decades ago for a camping style dish, quick deploy that was very similar for the NTV group. Everything bar the power supply fitted in a standard size briefcase.

What I find interesting in the second photo is the generator (the red box), it is a Honda EU10 that runs off petrol, not something I would expect to be taken into space.

Oh so this is gear from the recovery crew on the ground, none of it is from the Soyuz itself, they just are filming it's landing.
