What went wrong with my setup? - Can't find Hispasat.

My Satellite Setup
DM7020Si+40GB, DiSEqC H-H DarkMotor, Gibertini 1m, Inverto Black Ultra LNB - 42E to 30W.

Hi All

My sat motor died after 4 years in service.
The weather was nice two weeks ago so I replaced the motor and upgraded the dish and lnb at the same time to get more satellites.
Here's the BEFORE and AFTER result:

This was my first setup and 13.0E was my reference sat. I remember trying to find Thor and ended up getting hotbird! Didn't experiment too much as I was heppy with the channels I was getting.

This is my new setup with 0.8W being the reference sat. So far I have managed to get a lock on the above satellites with pretty much good signals on all, however, I spent hours trying to find 30.0W without any result. I tried the USALS, manual search..move the dish bit at a time, different transponders. So far NOTHING! :-(

The pole is probably not 10000% vertical but its the best I could do with using a sprit level. Since 've got 57 degrees of the arc lined up correctly I can't see how this sat can hide from me. I 've got a clear sight to the west and the motor is moving all the way. I don;t need this sat but its annoying after getting this far. I am now lost for ideas.

Any tips would be highly appreciated.

13 degrees should be the set up.
as the dish moves the lnb should tilt as it moves.
looking at the dish at 42 east it will tilt to the left.
as it gets to 13 it will be down,and as it gets to 30 west it will be to the right.
the center of the arc it the hotbird at 13 east.

If the setup is correct then USALS should find 30W, but don't forget to change the default transponder for that sat, as many are on the Americas beam and will not show a signal, choose one on the European beam.

Raplh, despite the user name, I suspect that our friend is located in mainland Britain, so Thor at 0.8W would be the appropriate South Satellite.

But it would be useful if that could be verified!

Tivu is right, I am in Manchester.

Rolf - I've tried various horizontal and vertical transponders on european beam, values taken from lyngsat (updated in the last few months). I think that the dish is somehow missing this bird altogether as I don;t get any noticable fluctuation in the signal strength as the dish passes 30.0W.

I didn;t play with the motor latitude after the initial setup according to my LAT/LON values, and because its locking the other sats very well I can't see a good reason to adjust this setting.

In USAL mode if motor is moved to go to 0 deg and then go to 0.8W it finds Thor.
Should I use the USAL to go to 30.0W and then move the dish elevation to check for signals?
I'm just worried that it might mess up the other sattellites.
 
Difficult to advise on this, as you appear to be getting the Eastern arc well, from zero to 42 East, but there is obviously a problem, as it would be all be falling into place if alignment/settings were correct.
 
What about 22, 24.5 and 27.5 West? Very strong signals on those with me on east coast of Ireland 1.1m dish, AzBox.

I'll take the ladders out on a sunny weekend to check the setup (need to get up there once anyway to run a new twin cable through).

dxhound2003 - thanks for the working transponders, will check them out. I have tried 22W and 24.5W in order to edge towards my target but can't remember which TPs i've used. Didn;t get any lock on them but I wasn't sure how strong the signals were as I never had them before.
