Which dish? Terms?

If site sponsers dont carry Penta in brick colour, you could check out ebay 310128903477.

I used TM2200 motor on mine and invacom 0.3 lnb top class results- i'm not a fan of either dark motor myself- and go down Moteck TM route everytime
 
That item is from High Definition who are one of our site advertisers, but I think the poster is looking for an Aluminium faced Penta and they may not have one in that colour.

Rolf is correct, I am looking for an FR Penta 85 aluminium in brick colour but I have searched the web, including HD's site, and there doesn't seem to be such an animal. So it's a toss-up between the white ali version and the brick steel! Decisions, decisions, decisions....................

Still undecided on which LNB to use. Decisions, decisions, decisions.......
 
The black is more like a grey, I have one here.

Regards to the LNb, Inverto, Invacom, FR all perform ok.
 
They used to have the Pentas in four colours when they were first launched, including red, but that was over ten years ago.

Yes the brick red is almost red. Can blend in ok with some brickwork but not all.

I now know what a T&K mount is, next question is what standoff distance would be best for a Penta 85 alu dish?

The intention is to mount it up in the 'V' of the roof join. With it's shape it lends itself well to that position which faces SSE with no obstruction. I'm just thinking about the arc, presumably if i'm not due south then i'd be better off with a larger standoff (not too large) to allow a tad more rotation of the dish?? Or, will it not matter and there will be some sats that can't be 'seen'?

I'm a little confused but nowhere near as much as i was last week given the answers so far, thanks!
 
If your wall is SSE, then a 12" T&K would normally do, as the motor sets the dish forward by another 9" or so, the dish is around 49cm radius and your only travel 50 degrees or so to either side.

No, but I sent them an email this morning so should hear back from them tomorrow. I'll let you know!

Regarding the mount, I think I will need at least a 24" T&K as it has to go on an end wall which faces out about 60degrees east of south. This means the maximum I will be able to traverse the dish will be about 30degrees west of south. (Does that make sense, as I've deduced this from my Sky dish pointing about 60degrees out from the wall?)
 
Can it not sit above the roof line, then a 12" bracket would be fine unless you need a big standoff to clear the edge of the roof.

If the dish is going above the gutter you just need enough stand off to get it past the gutter.

Hi Rolf - Unfortunately the side of my house overlooks a main road so I need to make the dish as unobtrusive as possible, hence my wish for a brick coloured Penta 85.

24 inch plus the 10 inches of motor is a big overhang and may suffer from occasional wind slippage/movement if exposed.
 
Well ... I've just ordered a Penta 85 aluminium in brick colour from HighDefinition. It's on a 10 day back order so i'll need to stick with ITV4 for Tour Du France first week :>(

I'll then attempt to install it myself, a first timer, as a standalone dual feed system until i get my head around just what i need for a motorised system and where to fix it. It'll be over to a good installer at that point.

Any recommendations for the NE of England, Tyne & Wear ???

When it comes to the stage of motorising, why not have a go yourself? before you call out a professional you've got nothing to lose:), theres plenty of help on here for you too fall back on.

Like Superloopy, I have now ordered the Penta 85 aluminium in brick colour from HighDefinition. I have also ordered an 18" T&K and 15m Webro coax from eBay. The fun will begin when I attempt to install the dish.

Again like Superloopy, I have never tackled such a task before but, with all the advice given on this site, at least I do know what I should do THEORETICALLY! It's this seventy-year-old putting the theory into practice that will be fun!

I STILL can't make my mind up which LNB to use despite all the advice given. Perhaps that's the problem, I have been advised to use several different makes and I can't be sure which one will give best performance.

LAURO2008 seems to have excellent results from the Invacom SNH-031 twin 0.3dB but I don't really want to buy a twin lnb when I will only be using a single feed. Also, I still have it fixed in my mind that a 0.1dB lnb MUST give a better performance than a 0.3dB.

AM I WRONG? Perhaps it's a question of matching the particular dish being more important than LNB stand-alone performance........any input on this one?

The SNH-031 is the single version LNb. Any of the popular LNb's will be fine. Plenty info on the forum.
