Advice Needed why no centre on this satellite dish

A center piece on a dish that big (looks to be over 2 meters at least) would do nothing to enhance the signals, so why use one.

And on a dish like that you could use a secondary reflector where the LNB would be mounted and use a LNB mounted at the center, some dishes can also be used for transmitting signals back up to the satellite, so a center mounted TX/RX unit would go at the center, with the secondary reflector mounted out at the prime focal area.

As the dish is a prime focus (PF) dish, the centre of that dish would be in the shadow of the scalar rings of a C-band LNB.
(As Terryl says, it would make no difference if there was an inset.)
But judging by my experience, there *is* an inset for the centre supplied with the dish.
Do remember that the dish you have posted a picture of is a Jonsa design petalised dish (probably the 1.8 metre) - sold under many brand names, including Fortec Star.
If you are looking to receive Ku band, these dishes are sub-standard performers compared to other 1.8 meter dishes. Don't bother.
If you are looking to receive C band, you may get better mileage, but the dish is still a flimsy design.
No matter what band, the dishes are powder-covered steel, and will rust like h*ll in no time (Take it from someone who has had one...)
 
thanks for info, I have 1.8 channelmaster for c-band in, I am thinling of buying the dish in the picture (2.4) would this be better than my 1.8?
 
As st1 says, these dishes are generally hopeless.. will probably perform worse than your Channel Master. Unless you get a very good deal, I'd steer clear.

I'd steer well clear anyway. Those dishes are crap. They wobble like a big jelly and are impossible to adjust. And even if you did manage to set one up, it would only need someone to breath on it and you'd need to start again.

If you can get this working better than a 1.2m dish I'd be stunned, let alone a 1.8m dish.
 
Are there different versions of this dish? People like @Costactc have good experiences with those - assuming it's the same one.

Maybe if someone modified it to give it some strength...

My dilemma is how could I justify 8 hours labour to a customer to set up a 150€ dish when it only takes 10 minutes to set up a proper one.
 
It almost looks like my 2.4m Fortec with the exception that my centre isn't open. Not that bad if you can get it real cheap and slap a polar mount on it for mobility and a good actuator like a VonWeise for strength. I mainly use my dish for the circular c band sats on the Atlantic arc but if the plate is removed, it actually works well on linear c band sats as well.
