Just spotted this on eBay, do any of you knowledgeable gentlemen know if it will replace a V box ?

I would ask the seller, but often as not they do not have a clue : )

Woops forgot the URL

Interesting... Partially. Current capabilities are pretty low, so will struggle with larger dishes.

Agree - the V-Box is specced at around 3.5A, whereas something like the Titanium ASC1 does 5A.
The device in question delivers 0.4A, so I think this limits the suitablility of replacing a V-box... perhaps with a small DARL-style actuator and a small'ish dish?

Thank you both for your replies.

I wonder if the current is limited by the device, or the power supply they have used ?

Price wise it is not a great saving on a standard Box.

I have just set up a video camera looking at the lower bearing of the Precision mount, there are only pencil marks on it at the moment so it does not look much.

But with some lettering on the bottom part and a pointer on the top, I shall be able to work out where the dish is.

I had one on the Diseqc motor pointing at the scale round the Elephant trunk and it was very handy.

There are times when things go wrong and the receiver shows the dish moving when in fact it is not : )

I think st1's comment about this box and small dishes is basically correct because "most" Rxs can only deliver around 400-500mA (tops) - a dish mount motor for "larger" dishes needs the source to deliver much more current than that.

Sometimes I "wish" I had not sold my V-box to CJ, but, TBH, I don't have the space for a dish bigger than about 1m, and even if I did, then I would not get Planning Permission (!) for one (even if I dared to apply for it because that "might" raise some questions about what is already there :))

I will contact this shop today and ask about how many positioners they have. One is for friend of mine, another one I will probably take for me. But if they have more than 2, and somebody is interested, please let me know within ~3 hours (I will go to that shop only once, and I hate driving in Capital).

At that price, I'll have one (if they have more than two).
Even if it turns out to be not useful, it's worth a try!
(We can sort out the shipping later...)

Reduced from 26 to 5 sounds impressive. But regular price in another shops for this item is 6,70EUR Shop #1 and shop #2
Seller's tricks :)
Mitrumizturīgs means humidity durable.

I've already ordered 4 pieces, seems that they still have some.

I was just pointing out £30 might not constitute 'value'.

I think that this positioner can be used to operate LNB-changer motor, for example if motor from Fibo is used, and it also have 1/4 Diseqc inside the box. I think I will get another one for me. But @Trust1 , @Captain Jack , and @st1 will have their positioners shipped in one hour.

The reason I wanted this is to see if I can use it for my declination jack - we'll see.

The device in question delivers 0.4A

Well , I don't fully understand the english manual, but my quess would be that the 0,4 A would apply to the maximum DC-current to the LNB.

The storing of diseqc-motorpositions and the coupling to 4 committed diseqccommands remains a mistery for me, however.
I don't get what this 'thing' can do, precisely...

With a powerfull adaptor and 2 more heavy relais it can work like a V-box ( no remote)
Same thing I do with circuitboards from SG2100

Excellent service, excellent price, excellent transaction time. What's not to like?

OK, perhaps I´m missing something here, It cannot do what you want, with help, including technical adjustment and some cash, it maybe able to do something near what you want it to do. And to make it do what you really really want , will cost more cash.
OK , what am I missing ?

This is not service at all, it is just a try to assist to some crazy hobbyists. My pleasure.
