Probably touched on this before but never really got satisfactory resolution..
I recently had to build a new win7 pc for the shop ..
I have the pro install ...and a copy of the 32bit version of SP1 ..
Both are installed ...but would like to get all subsequent updates in a lump if possible ..
Web chatter says this is theoretically possible in the form of an update catalogue ...which is Win7SP2 in all but name ...
but how does one go about this ?
has anyone succeeded ?
If so ...how did you go about it ?
Currently I have Win7 32 bit installed with SP1 and updates turned off ...as from previous experience allowing updates just hits a brick wall and fails to progress past a certain point..
anyone ?
Is there a manual app ...or a complete roll-up download to be had ?

Same prob with a new win7 64 bit install here:-ohcrap

Regards

Ps seriously thinking the linux route again:D

Well, Linux Mint 18 has just been released ..... ;)

..Well ..fwiw this should be possible ..though little is discussed as to how it is done ..
??
Microsoft releases ‘service pack 2’ for Windows 7

Cant go to linux minty or otherwise as it is my work PC and I need access to programmes such as my eeprom programmer etc ..for which there are only windows drivers available..
If it were just for browsing and youtube ...then Linux might be an option..

Have you tried going win 8.1 VS? Used with Classic Shell its ok.

However you must install Classic Shell or it looks completely pants and is more or less unusable for any serious work!

A reply from your link reads:-

"" Yea, I ran this on a brand new Win7 SP1 install. It opened, said it was 'searching for updates on this computer...' for a bout 30 hours, and then said 'the update is not applicable for your computer'. If I try to install from windows update I get the 'checking for updates ' for DAYS. Microsoft has completely lost it trying to push windows 10. ""

Might try the other option again

No AS ..
never tried win8 ...in any form ...
refused it point plank when they demo'd it .
On account it was designed for Tablets n' sh1t ....
built for finger swipers imo ...
It may work but a lot of messing if it dont..
plus of course ...I dont have a genuine install for win8 or indeed a key ...
which I do have for 7 ..
Not even sure that the Chinese designers of my eprom progger which cost me a fair bit ...even have drivers for 8 ..
I guess I can work without with later win7 updates ...but less securely..
cest la vie

Give it a try sometime on a spare hdd - with Classic Shell. Honestly its not too bad at all.

..Have you got an installation disc AS ?
then of course I'd also need a key..
the Thick plottens...

I think Ive got a disk somewhere - I'll have a look through my pile of "might be useful discs" tomorrow.

I ran a win 8.1 install on a laptop for months - it just kept telling me it wasnt activated at every switch on but actually worked fine :D

My experience on different (lenovo, dell, tosh) laptops, I'd say really excellent. 8.1 + classic shell, one never sees the tile\tablet stuff. Clean out all preinstalled (cr)apps, store etc = an improved\updated w7, fast and stable, with long support life.

Answer to your question Vipersan :D

Code:
http://download.wsusoffline.net/

Works like a charm, no more waiting for three weeks for the updates to start :D

Also works with Windows 8, 2008, 2012 and if you download an older version it works with Windows XP too.

Nope ...
Cant get the webpage to run ..
Something wrong with the flashplayer plugin apperently ...??
Microshyte really Fooked us up here ..
the website wont run without the adobe plugin ....for flashplayer which inturn wont install ...cos it is incompatible ..

Install Chrome and run it from there :D

And i agree with VS regarding Windoze 8. I have the disk but no key and as such have not really messed with it.

Ok ,,,
I may well never get in again ..but finally did using a different pc ...and currently added both win732bit and 64 bit update(s) to basket ..and straight to my backup server ...fingers crossed ..
This other win7 pc has an older version of flash player installed ...which is letting me in ..
grrr ..
0 out of 10 Microshyte for making this so fffing hard...

Looks like Microsoft have made getting these updates totally reliant on Adobe ...who in turn ..moved the goalposts..
Duuuuurrrrr ...
Stoopid I calls it ..

Got em ...
I hope ..
About 800 mbs for both sets 32 and 64bit ..
If anyone has a dropbox set up already I can pop em in there for anyone who might need them ?

Well ..it is possible it seems ..
I now have my win7-32bit os as up to date as I can get it..
The rollup download does work ..
It is difficult to get and there is a version for 32bit and 64 bit ..
BUT neither will run until another KB has been found and run ..
..and again there is a version for 32 and 64
KB3020369
This update fixes the servicing stack ...and allows the roll up KB to run ..
without 3020369 you will see an error
reporting that the roll up update is not for your PC

"kb xxxxx the update is not applicable on your computer"
