Can anyone tell me, do these work in the same way as a linux box cardshare for an internal sharing, ie can you view different channels on your various receivers around the home, from the one sub card?

Yes, but note most of them dont work with Videoguard.

Can any one tell me of a splitter that works with videoguard and do they come with software installed on them

ALl the ones Ive seen advertised specifically exclude Videoguard.
