Great to see you have the Channel master feed and Quad Invacom lnb.

And mounted on a 1224 motor!

If I started again I would probably have gone for an actuator. The way the triangular bracket is fastened to the motor shaft looks like a weak link to me. Have to wait and see once it gets some wind against it. The motor is the one with the steel plate inside.

very nice job you did there m8 ..congratulations :),regarding the fitting please check my mod on the motor´s fixing system ,i´v discarted the original crappy triagles from the motor and used gibertini´s Plate instead..works much better and looks rock solid when fixed ..i will get the parametres you´v asked me soon as we get better weather ..been real bad and wet since saturday morning...regards;)

You wont be disapointed with the 1224, I have the same set up, but the non reinforced version.

I think we are at cross purposes here. I mean the top bracket on the motor shaft (see photos). When the motor arrived it was all loose and that tapered pin doesn't seem to fit too well. I'll have to wait and see if it comes loose again.

That is a brilliant idea. The 100mm pole is too big for the motor. I had to grind the inside of the mount to get it to fit. I use a 100mm wheel so it is a perfect match. But with the universal U-bolts that come with the motor it is still a pain to adjust. Looking at yours I think I'll probably make the switch.

As for tracking the arc I think I'm getting pretty close now. My South was a bit off the other day. My meter comes back on Wednesday so I'm going to have another go at it then. At the moment, with the Lacuna meter, I can hit more than 20 satellites between 42E and 45W. The choice of transponders in the meter doesn't seem to good for this location. It can't see Nilesat at all. My receiver hasn't arrived yet either; I'm using a Darkbox at the moment (which can see Nilesat). It's pretty cloudy today but I'm still getting some Astra 2D (Transponders 42, 44, 46, 48, 52, 54, 56).

I know this is an old thread but i'm interested in how good your BBC 1, 2, ITV and film 4 reception is?

How late in the evening can you get them?

How does it compare to the 1.9M and 2.4M dishes in your area?

I'm bang smack in the middle of the Costa Blanca in Alicante. Horizontals are impossible here. Maybe a couple of hours day on a 2.4m. A bit farther north like Javea and a 2.4m will get horizontals from 9am to 6pm. Vertical reception is pretty good. Now I'm using a Black Ultra it is almost 24/7 in good weather. With the Invacom LNB not so good. Screenshot is half past midnight CET winter time.

would you get reception for a couple more hours if you upgraded to a 1.8 channel master or similar size dish ?

You need to ask Pipino. He swapped from a Gibertini 1.5 motorised to a fixed mount 1.8 metre CM (not too far from here) and he's really pleased with the results.

yes the upgrade to channel master 1.80 made a difference for me ,and if you add Inverto Black ultra like Huevos sujested you get even better result ,now i have my gibertini back in action since last week ,i use it for pure C/KU band DXing and feed hunting ..if i get some time i will take some new snaps

Added C-band LNB. If you're not used to C-band it's surprising how big everything is. It's all 3x the size, so the 1.5m on C-band will perform about the same as a 50cm dish does on Ku, just about big enough to get my toe dipped in the water. The C-band LNB is offset 2.5º so when the central LNB is pointed at 0ºE the C-LNB is pointed at 5ºE. The other 2 LNBs are to speed up zapping, used in conjunction with the T90.

Also I wanted to tone it down a bit so I disassembled everything and painted it.

The youtube clip shows the geo-arc from the dish perspective. Arc is dead centre in the frame, just above the cenrtal LNB. Clip starts on 57E and runs through to 58W, stopping momentarily on 53E, 45E, 42E, 28E, 19E, 1W, 30W, & 45W.

That's a great setup you have there Huevos. That C-Band feedhorn seems huge, particularly as it has to fit on the LNB bar alongside the ku's. Still, the results speak for themselves.

I hope the motor can take the strain of the dish and assembly, sounds like it's working hard :-rofl2

thanks for all the detailed pictures -- its a fine looking setup -
and yes those feedhorns are huge - on my channel master 1.8 i had to widen and lower the fixing position of my side arms in order to make enough room - l.o.l.
i,v picked up far more than i ever thought would be possible with an offset dish

nice one m8 ;) , if you add another C band LNB for linear polarization you can get more channels from the far east(INDIA ,Maldives...etc)

For the time being I'm just going to experiment taking the delay plate out.

By the way, Nelson and Pipino, what blind search receivers are you currently using for C-band (and Ku come to that).

It's not loud really, it's just that the camera was attached to the dish which seems to have amplified the sound.

i got fed up of taking the plate in and out -- and have recently done as Pipino suggested and fit a second C band l.n.b. for linear --

at the moment i,m using the Vantage x22 for c.band -- and my old Technomate 1500 ci for k/u --- but if mpeg4/ high definition channels are present i can switch C - or k/u into a spiderbox and use that - but its blind scan is rather slow , although thorough - its tuner is better than the T.M. and almost equal to the vantage
i like the vantage 22x best for blind search -its fast and it certainly has the most sensitive tuner and have wondered if the more recent h.d. models are as good -in respect of tuner sensitivity and blind search ?
