If I had some thing like a 3 meter dish, from Cape Town, would I be able to receive some Sky signals,

Or just how big a dish would I need.

3m?? Not a chance. 30m plus might give you a tiny chance!

The "sky satellites" are transmitting into western Europe - nowhere near Cape Town.

Hello, thanks for the quick reply.
So leading onto the next question, is there a way to watch what we call 'free view' in the UK down in Cape Town.
I was looking to take my Sky box, and maintain my subscriptions, and thereby keep watching all the soapy's etc.
Should I just write it off as 'not possible' ?

Solution could be a Slingbox (IPTV).

Sell your sky box before you go - it will be useless in South Africa

Slingbox works great. I send digital TV from Sweden to Spain, very good quality. I can change channels as if I were in Sweden. You just have to place your Sky box at a friends house in the UK and have an internet connection.
