My Satellite Setup
Laminas 1.2M fibre dish with an IBU, on a Clarke Tech USALS motor, covering 57E - 24.5W to an Octagon SX88. Displayed on a 20" Dyon LED TV.

Seperate 80 cm dish on 28E with a Humax Freesat for SWMBO.
Free Sat V8 meter. Sony Bravia 46" LCD, Sony BluRay and Home Cinema.
My Location
Normandy, France
I will try changing the longitude by 0.01 degree at a time

Not sure the motor will respond to that small a change and it will take you ages. I'd try 0.1 at a time. It works for me...

Ah sorry, I think I said wrong. Right now its set at 0.017 so I'd change to 0.018?

I'm with sonnetpete: Increments of 0.1 (I'd go so far as 0.2): Less than that and you won't even cater for motor backlash, wind loading on the dish face etc.

So the first tries should be at 0.2 deg E and 0.2 deg W (The 0.017/0.018) deg you've got set are insignificant (Other than telling us you live within spitting distance of the meridian!)

Thanks for the reply.

Oh dear, I'm all confused now. This is what my Openbox receiver is set at right now. Do I change the values to 0.002?

No, not 0.002, but 0.2.

Simply overtype: The cursor is on the leading zero, so tap on 0, the cursor will move to the next number, tap on zero, then the third, tap on zero. Then it jumps across the decimal point and press 2.

Press Enter or OK and exit.

To change from E to W (You'll need to try both as your really nominally bang on Zero to start with), I think you press Enter/Ok before overtyping the figures. (Same as on my Skybox F3).

Many Thanks

Changed to 0.2 and experimented by adding/removing a degree each time. 0.10 seemed to be a good spot and signal wise, it has made a small improvement. (As an example, TRT 1 HD was at 71% before I changed anything and is now showing 78% after the change - exactly what I had been getting in the summer when the motorised was setup) I tried other values but they had no effect.

Given that its raining heavily and wind is still moderate, hopefully I should get some gain on the signal when the weather improves.

Might be a silly question but, since I've made these tweaks with the dish pointed at Turksat. Will they remain for other satellites when I move the dish? (i.e. will I need to do the same thing when the dish is pointing at Hotbird?)

The change will apply right across the arc.

But as you've only made a slight improvement, you main issue sounds like a drop in elevation: Just had to tweak my own 1m dish as it lost the ends of the arc due to storms.

PS: Re-reading your Post, the increments should have been 0.2 at a time, not a whole degree: You'll overshoot the optimum position like that.

For clarity, try 0.2E, 0.0, 0.2W.

Then try 0.4E and 0.4W.

That'll be a better test.

Not sure if the TRT HD transponders are lower than usual but they are fluctuating in signal for me. Only getting 60% here

All coming in fine here, it may be just climatic conditions (mist, fog, drizzle)....

I'm hoping so. All other channels are coming in fine, just this one transponder is weaker for me than usual.

I've heard that the Openbox which I'm using can screw up LNBs which in turn would cause some problems with certain frequencies. I'm hoping that's not happening :(

There is a cheap fix, if it's a manifestation of the Openbox "No Signal" issue: A cable stub with a Zener diode shunt, for a handful of £.

But it might not be that ...... what frequency is the TRT TP?

The frequency is 11054 V 30000 3/4

Usually it's really strong for me. Not quite sure why it's this low, there's no rain or fog outside.

Ah, that rules out the DECT phone EMC issue then.

Is there any real effect ie dodgy video/audio?

No breakup at all but seeing it fluctuate had made me curious.

TRT HD is now gone completely for me on 11054 v 30000.

The four other HD channels are coming through but again fluctuating rapidly between 65% - 73%. I've still not been able to pin point why. Surely it can't be an LNB issue as I'm getting a strong signal on other transponders (Vertical & Horizontal)

I wonder if they are doing some work on this transponder?

All trt hd are showing about the same level here, 12.7 dB on the 1.2 dish.
Just for the record, brt is much lower at 7.1 dB
I know my location is nowhere near yours, but it does show the signal is there and a par with the others

Just had a look at that transponder.
Six TRT channels 94% Five oK.
TRT HD is 93% video flashing on and off.

Thanks both of you.

Something definitely wrong with my setup then or could possibly be my receiver giving false readings? I'm not seeing any picture break up as of yet. I know I shouldn't expect 100% signal given that my dish is only roughly about 78cm but I'm curious as I used to get a solid 78% at least. (TRT SD mux coming through at 82% along with TV8 Int, Powerturk HD)

Just converted the readings for TRT HD channels , 78% on all, with no flashing pictures on any channels.
Just some gross body piercing on TRT HD

80cm motorised Inverto dish with Dark Motor full metal gears, Xtrend 9500HD, Amiko Alien 2+, Amiko Alien 8900, Moded Zone 2 dish with multi LNB goodness! 50 inch full HD LCD and loads of other stuff! lol

Glasgow,ish!
Looks like TRT HD is no more, still scans in as such but is: TRT BELGESEL HD which also scans in on the same transponder but with its own SID so in real terms its on the one transponder twice in effect.

Edit, Fluxing between 12.6 & 12.7 DB on my Xtrend 9500, 75% AGC that is.
