The Keygens are useless unless you can find the updated vcg.mhg file!

I have managed to dump the data streams from the RedHot and XtraView MHEG5 PIDS. The stream seems to repeat themself about every 20Kb so I am assuming that this is the whole program. When I isolate that section and view it in a HEX editor I can see references to the following files:

AIENA.txt
WAIDIS.txt
UKPENA.txt
UKPDIS.txt
UEPENA.txt
UEPDIS.txt
disc.mhg
stp.mhg
strp.mhg
fltr.mhg
efld.mhg
diag.mhg
rvl.mhg
vcg.mhg <- this file contains the algo update.

But, I have no idea how to de/compile or dis/assemble the code so I can isolate and view these files. Does the stream need re-parsing? Because MHEG is "middle-ware" does it need a Java style virtual machine to run on? Because of licensing issues there are very few MHEG tools available.

The MHEG viewing software that comes with the Nova-T DVB-T cards is useless, I have tried some generic memory dumping tools but with no luck. I am assuming they must be using another MHEG viewing tool to extract the files or log operations.

I have tried loading the whole stream in several ANS.1 programs but they all complain about the input format. I have even tried some satellite internet file grabbers but they don't work either.

I don't know if people are extracting this file from a dumped stream or viewing it in some Linux / Java MHEG application? Or maybe dumping it from memory while a MHEG application is running?

I have tried searching the dump for a know data pattern [i.e todays codes] but I can't find them. This makes me think the program needs decompiling in some way first.

There is a Java MHEG engine here:

http://www.prz.tu-berlin.de/~joe/mheg/mheg_intro.html

and a compiler here:

http://lionet.info/asn1c/asn1c.cgi

It's all greek to me though...

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Cheers,
Nick

Most of the mhg files you can ignore, they are things like reveal (which is called once you enter a correct pin). Only vcg.mhg changes daily. To get the files dumped, there is software around.

As to what you need it depends on what you want to do. From a raw dumped vcg.mhg the minimum is to use an asn1 compiler, like the one in your post that compiles the file into a human-readable xml. From that I write down 4 numbers on paper and then decode any pin I want in about 30 seconds.

An emulator will allow you to test out whether pins you generate work - or decode using brute force, if you really wanted.

Don't really see much use in decoding the signals though.

"there is software around"

You will not find any public MHEG5 development tools, this system is very obscure and heavily licensed. I have seen a java implementation somewhere but I don't think its any use to us.

To my knowledge the Nebula DigiTV application is the only end-user MHEG application that can dump the individual files that make up the program. Because that software only supports their DVB devices we need to do this the hard way.

You can use some transport stream dumping tools like TS-Reader or DVB Stream Explorer to dump the binary MHEG5 data stream from the XtraView / RedHot MHEG PID. You will only need a 100Kb chunk because the stream just repeats itself.

BUT, the complicated part is "re-parsing" this binary data stream so you can extract individual files from it. I think you will need to use a linux DSM-CC decoding tool included in the DVBSnoop project. When you have isolated the file you then need an ASN.1 compiler to convert the file to ASCII / XML so you can find the integer vales

- simple really!

If, like me, you're a linux newbie you are not going to get very far with DVBSnoop. You might be able to us some windows based satellite-internet file grabbing plug-ins to isolate the file but I didn't have any luck with that.

If that all sounds too much like hard work you could just use one of the online keygens....

;)

Does anyone have the URL of an online keygen? I've searched in vain with Google..but can find nothing :(

I pay £7.99 for Top-Up.tv in one room of my house, so I believe I should have at least the right to watch some of the Xtraview progs in another room with a bog standard Freeview box for free :)

Don't think that even then it's very straightforward, but if you buy a s/h Nokia 221T you can simply apply the settings and its done.

If you want to do MHEG dumps for the keygen but you don't have a Nebula DigiTV card, [and you don't want to fork out £20 for DVBSE], you'll be pleased to hear there is now a FREE solution!

It's called DC-DVB 0.14 and it should work with any device with BDA drivers:

http://www.dsp-worx.de/?n=11

It is a directshow filter so it needs to be used with a host application, you can use Window$ MediaPlayer but I recommend you use ZoomPlayer or MPC.

Use the batch files to register the filter and plug-in then use the ChannelScan program to set-up the codecs and tune the channels.

Save a .dvb file and then open that file with a directshow mediaplayer.

If you want to do an MHEG dump tune to RH / XV, wait about 30 seconds, and then look in the MHPData directory.

Apart from being the only free application with a DSM-CC object carousel parser it also has loads of other great features like networking, and being able to record several channels simultaneously!

Please don't flood DeCoder's developement board with loads of "How do I do RedHot dumps?" style questions, if you have any problems I'd be happy to help you out.

Cheers,
Nick

Hi does anyone know where i can get the code generator?

I know how to take the mheg dump and read the file for the data, I'm currently using an online generator but I dont want to have to rely on it. Or can someone explain how the pin is generated from the 5 lines of code?

Welcome Raymond 904

We don't have the generator here, I have seen a way of working it out on paper - an Excel spreadsheet and the generator application you mention (but not here).

Mainly satellite TV here.

Other forums may have them, you will have to join and some have closed membership.

Don't like to send anyone away from this great site - that said - Google the word Modshack - that may help.

Hi thanks a lot but I already found it. This site was extremely helpful tho, so now i can update the code generator everyday by myself and access all three channels. If anyone needs the codes on a daily basis add this to msn:

Why would they do that? Very few Freeview recievers have card slots.

More and more all the time are getting card slots, but IMHO broadcasters would make more in advertising revenue from having the larger viewing base with normal Freeview than they'd get from their share of the TopUpTV revenue from a much smaller audience.

Of course, I may be completely wrong about this, in which case no doubt I'll be corrected shortly.
