Roy Skelton, who provided the voices to legions of Daleks and Cybermen in Doctor Who as well both Zippy and George in Rainbow has died aged 79 after suffering a stroke.

He reprised the role of Zippy for the BBC series Ashes to Ashes in 2008.

RIP Roy - you scared us well.

Well I'd never linked the voice of Zippy with the Daleks, but now thinking about it.

RIP Roy, a great contribution to my entertainment over many many years.

Apparently he did the voices for Zippy and George in one take, no double tracking. He would switch from one to the other with such skill that when they were arguing it sounded like the voices overlapped.
