Hello, first the ferry to Denmark, then a drive through DK, D, CH, I, F and made it to my house in Alpes Maritimes, approx. 50 km north of Cannes\Nice. '1000' things to do with house and garden, but weather is great.

Just a picture of the fantastic sat testing process :O) Got it connected today after 14 days without tv, just in time to be fed all the news about bombings and terror...
On the old 90 cm got 19e at 16-17 db, and 28e EU at 13 db. No sign of life from 28e UK, will work on it... some trees must be cut down & get bigger dish.

Larger dish is indeed the answer. Bad news if you can't go big enough.

Just out of interest - is the LNB in the photo the correct type for a PF dish?

A essayer, mais j'ai un doute, parfois, on a de bonne surprise, qui sait...
Yes, try 1.30m, it should works for few transponders, who knows...

Here I can get the full 28.2°E on a T55 (including thre UK beam) and I am not in the south of France! (not in the north too)

^^^ Merci, je vais penser a quoi\comment faire (I'll think about what to do). Where are you situated with the t55 ?

Yes, better photo here > The old motor-90

And ref 1st post, plan is to have dish(es) only on ground level (endlessly more practical) but have to use roof FTM to clear trees. Happy to experience decent reception conditions, am in a valley and was wondering if mountains could interfere, all well.

I am at about the same latitude some km to the west of you near Avignon. With my 80cm dish I get everything from 28°e in most weather conditions, only lose some of the HD channels on the UK focus footprint when it rains.

But the UK footprint probably has quite a steep cut off as you go east of me, but that's just a guess.

I don't have any mountains near me to affect reception.

I'm located between Marseille and Toulon, just inland from the coast. My 1m Gibertini works fine on 28E in decent weather, but loses all HD and some SD in heavy rain. Incidentally, my dish is also mounted at ground level, and I take the dish off each time we lock the place up for a few weeks.

^^^ Thanks for the info.

Have had a look around here, ground level out of the question :O( so roof (+ maybe extra mast) it must be and probably max 110 to 130. Am -just- clearing the top of trees on mountains eastwards. 28e points right to a treetop on my property, so hope for improvement that may give a hint of the UK's on the 90cm. 19e has clear sight and is very strong.

Testing out the new (very diminutive) box. Setting up many dishes here (France location) may be difficult because of hills\trees. Fransat 5w might be troublesome, so as 19e works ok went for TNT sat, The 4 years lifetime of the card then small renewal fee is zero problem.

In addition to the French 'freesat', it also scanned all available free channels on 19e, can save several favorites bouquets, record to usb works, good picture, remote is fine. All in all, nice little thing.

Finally found an able person to cut trees, quite a lot to do here before I get some better openings for sat reception. But am seeing lots more sun and sky already.

Many ants on the property, and some found their way to the -inside- of the tv lcd, behind the glass ! Thought these things were glued tight. They were walking around for 2 days seemingly looking for a way out, gone now, and the tv got a dose of insect spray at the vents.

Some advancements, trees directly in the path gone, 28e eu levels went up, but still no uk's. Will have another go tomorrow to check if there is hint of life with some probable higher daytime levels.

The old 90cm is not the best, but looks like I can safely deduce that 90 is too small for uk reception in this region north of Nice\Canne, more or less as expected, no miracle.

Generally, 28e eu vs 19e, all 19e transp. blasting in a 17db\100%, but 28e eu's transp. only manage approx 12 to 15 db for some reason, looking at the maps from flysat levels should be quite similar.

With the R&D dept thinking hard trough the night and coming up with great advances within dish mount technology :O) and a few more treetops cleared, managed to -just- get a lock on some uk's here. So reception is worth pursuing after all, great.

Plan looks clear, a solid mount (as high as practical) on the chinmney, a wifi dongle for the Solo 2 (to get readings to the phone sat-meter), and start looking for some large dish.

If getting a large enough dish for 28e it would probably work well to get 19e as well by just adding a lnb.

I'm sure a 1.2m would do nicely for you.

Get a Gib 125 w. mutlifeed holder. That should sort you out nicely.

"Uk2.jpg" looks "vaguely reminiscent" of one of A/S's old car tyre installations :D

Got confirmation from the town council that there are no restrictions on dish size \ placement, so the road is open for installation of whatever may be needed (sized for 28e).

^^^ not in writing, but personally from 'Le Maire', but may change his mind if seeing a bunch of 3 to 5 meters all over the property :O) But that won't happen, so should be all clear.

Been walking around with the compass today looking for spots in between hills and trees, restrictions all around, luckily the wanted sats (28 & 19) looks good. Soon to start looking for a decent dish, 125 to 150.
