Here in Yorkshire, conditions are monsoon-like. But at least the Water Butt is full again.

Finally stopped raining here. The only cats were the ones accompanying the dogs that fell on SWMBO at lunchtime.

Very pleasant day today, after all yesterday's rain. Mind you, it did clear up early evening so SWMBO and I popped out for a walk before it got dark.

Clear blue sky and fluffy white clouds right now and forecast to stick like that all day.

On our way back home and, for the first time in six weeks, I've had to put my coat on because it's so cold.

Not a good look - shorts and coat.

It's been miserable here for nearly a week.....we even lit the logburner the other night, though partly that was to 'bed in' the new grate. Never mind, we're off again in four weeks...

Well don't leave any peasants smouldering when you go off on your travels: Those old camel coats don't half pong.

Rest assured we have pet and housesitters booked. They've been fully briefed as to where to locate suitably flammable locals...

Spare a thought for those in Livorno and furthe south over the next couple of days.

Day off for SWMBO today, so we're going to visit all the old fishing villages twixt Whitby and Saltburn. Rain due to stop shortly. Kippers on standby.

From what I recall, Staithes was really charming....

Indeed.

Staithes, Runswick Bay, Port Mulgrave.

If the wx holds, we hope to get a few leagues of walking done.

I'd say summer is pretty much done now, cos as it was leaving last night in a windy fashion, it took part of my shed roof with it...

When you have re-felted it nail 3 thin battens each side running down the slope. Ive done that on OH's shed up at her allotment. Its very exposed up there but despite all the winters storms we have had the felt has never blown off. It split once along one of the battens after a hard winter but the battens stopped it blowing off completely.

DONT try felting on a windy day - been there got the tshirt & almost fell off the ladder backwards!!
