so spent some time tweaking LNB on 40.5w for ESPN - gave up around 3pm, at 8.5db - this morning it was 9.2db no breakup - great - tonight, down to 8db and breakup

need bigger! wish CM did a 2m or a 2.2m for direct fit onto CM polarmount.

Aye, them polo pipes are useful. I found I got about 1db to 1.5db more with a polo from the 2.0m Precision dish compared to using a dielectric plate.
I also got a little more when switching from the Titanium C1WPLL LNB to their narrower range C1PLL LNB with the inbuilt WiMax filter.

me and @nelson_b believe the POLO pipes do better on PF dishes as opposed to Offset.
i will have another go with the pipe though.

there must be occasional breakup even at 8.5db
No nothing..9.8dB this morning. I think the Dreambox reads a little less on the dB figure, they can vary a lot between receivers, not the most accurate way to get a reading.

this morning its going from 9.2-9.5db - maybe the polo keeps hold of the signal better overnight somehow - as opposed to the T Plate.
im not far behind you, but enough to get signal loss....i'll try the pipe again, now that i know, my signal (and others) are better in the mornings...especially cold mornings, obvs.

I cut around 20mm off the LNB itself, John did this when was experimenting with a Tit and polo pipe, I was then able to get more signal that way. It's on a thread somewhere on here. Scalar positiong is also also critical.
It's all experimenting and patience I'm afraid..
In Theory you should have a better signal being down Saaaarrrfff..

'ere, cop for these orbital motion pictures for 40.5 West.
There is a very small orbital motion of the satellite over the course of a day (0.08 degrees of Elevation and 0.06 degrees Azimuth).

The motion is so small I dont think it would impact reception on a 1.8m dish?
The signal level variance observed by users is most probably caused by other factors?

For anyone with dual axis tracking and very fine resolution adjustment of Az/El it should be possible to track the satellite.
However, it aint gonna be easy as the movements are tiny, possibly one pulse count on a controller, depending on the controller?

The guff below probably only has amusement value or may be of interest only to "extreme ultra's".

I think @Manikm909 has quite a bit of 5G interference from a local tower, this might be adding to the reception issue, even if using a 5G filtering LNBF or feed assembly?

Is probably 100% true in the 3.625-3.800 GHz range and has 100% nothing to do with ESPN reception problems.

I found the opposite to be honest...Careful tweaking is required though..
Hi -
Yes certainly careful tweaking required .... On my 1.8 offset i could eventually get an equal result to the T plate setup on ESPN if i tinkered long enough .... but i could never better it.
out of interest how deep has your AV - com been machined internally ?
mine has been been done right to the edge of the step ......
