Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

Sorry. It was a typo. It should be 11052H instead.
On my receiver 10994H and 11052H are showing at 100% signal (17.6 dB).
I'm sure these are leaking to 11023H. A bigger dish will never help as it will just amplify the full spectrum. Perhaps just with a better lnb... But I'm already using an Invacom and I'm not sure to be able to find a better one.
The hope is when 1N transponders move to 2F we get less inter channel leakage...

OK, 11052H showing 80% strength and 100% quality.

Well this UK beam is certainly tighter than anything else they've had before.

I know people in central Europe (Austria/Czech Republic) who could pick up 2D 24/7 with 2m+ dishes (even 1.8m in Prague) and are getting nothing from 2F now. 1N is naturally very strong.

Is there some kind of law saying Shetland must be able to get UK TV on a 60cm dish? Surely they've all got bigger dishes anyway? Why publish a press release about 2F being ready if it isn't? Doesn't make sense to me. Apart from a few comments on here and elsewhere, how do we even know if things aren't going to plan anyway and the "big rush" to get Astra 1N to 19.2E isn't such a big rush as some have suggested?!

Yup - just as valid as any other thought!! But I did think there was a max dish size for the whoel UK included in the spec - but of course I may be wrong on that!

There -http://www.uydudanevar.com/2012/11/astra-2f-282-dogu-teknik-ozellikleri.html that Astra-2F is not able to replace all transmissions on Astra-1N.

Their website did say the new satellites would improve reception to the north and west. I think it mentioned reception on zone 1 dishes.

I was under the impression that people in Greece/Cyprus are getting stronger signals from 2F than 2D.

it says range 10.95-12.75.
interesting,that means it lacks 10.70-10.95

Can't be right, it must be able to do the D band.

It also doesn't match what SES's own website says regarding the number of transponders available.

Perhaps someone loaded the wrong satellites onto the rocket? ;)

Nah, nothing here at the moment, and after the loss when 2D moved over to 1N, I'm not holding out much hope to get anything off 2F here.
Time will tell though

Not quite. In Iraklio/Crete they do have much stronger signal on 11023H than from 2D but other areas that either had the Horizontals (NW Greece, Cyprus) on 2.4m+ or the Verticals (SE Greece) on 2.4m+ locked now the best that can be noticed is about 2dB if at all. But it's too soon to clear it up because nobody can take a look 24h a day and not everybody that owns a big dish lets us know what he gets. And of course even those that want to either don't have the suitable equipment to post db values or they just don't know how to deal with this issue as an average TV consumer.

I think we will know when 500 Sat installers in Spain are suddenly murdered because the cheap little dishes they sold to unsuspecting ex pats a year ago don't work any more
I know you are probably joking but what do you do when you don't know what future requirement will be. 1) Sell something very expensive that might not work in the future, 2) sell something very cheap that might not work in the future, but that does the job for the time being, 3) sell nothing and go bankrupt. And anyway from what we've seen so far (on 11023h) a 1m does work as far south as Alicante for sure and a 1.1m dish is working fine further south in Ciudad Quesada.

where did they get the data from?ses don't publish the downlink frequencies

Shetland is part of the UK, and is defined as being in Zone 2 by Sky - i.e. bigger dish, just like northern Scotland. Reception on 60cm has been troublesome there, and 60cm is considered a minimum. I didn't notice the majority of dishes being in the 70-80cm range, though, last time I was there. If Sky have you in zone 2, that's what they'll install.

I believe one aim of 2F was to improve reception in northern Scotland and the Northern Isles. If this hasn't happened, then something is awry.

Remember:

There is no oficial confirmation by SES that 11023h is operational at 2F.

We could never get BBC HD when it was on 2D, so it looks like nothing has changed with 2F there at least.
When 2D was in action, we could only get the Horizontals anyway so we were somewhat limited in reception , even from dishes up to 4.2M.
Unfortunately I don't have a meter to test anything else, so I'm just waiting for some kind of move from 1N to see if anything comes through from the UK spot.
Sorry I cant be anymore help at the moment.

correct, the Shetlands are in zone 2

Not sure what your point is:

a. I can't imagine they would announce a Test frequency per se

and

b. There is widespread consensus from the well-informed that 11023 can be nothing else.

These are the test carriers that I observed & there was nothing below 10950 ?

You think disgruntled customers are going to be reasonable about the installer's inability to see into the future? :)
