When you do a bit of blind scanning you can restore the channels to their previous state

With E2 doing a service search doesn't change the channel bouquets at all.

Uno has proper hardware blindscan. And ViX has the software to get the most out of it.

One big different between the OpenViX version and the others is that the OpenViX version uses a second tuner to do the download, which means the current service continues to play.

I think SP has one too. I heard a few failure reports but for 50€ you can't go wrong. To get the same result with Spaun you need to cascade five 4:1 uncommitted switches at 50€ per unit.

No, I have four Vantage 4/1 switches going into a Spaun 4/1...

I use Openvix with my solo2; periodically I run an opkg upgrade. It's only this weekend for the first time that having run the upgrade I've been able to install the Blindscan menu from the plugin menu without fiddling about *and* I can actually run a blindscan having done so. On previous occasions when I've forced blindscan to install against its wishes I haven't been able to run a scan afterwards.

Sorry, getting of topic a bit here. Vu+ was waiting for drivers for blindscan for Solo2 from Broadcom. Until those drivers become available the blindscan plugin won't be part of the image for that model (so no point doing a forced install, because there is no working driver). AFAIK, the current Vu+ models with working blindscan are Uno, Ultimo & Duo2.

Right, I might of done it, but it might be too small - can anyone confirm the right size it should be.

5w is at the end, the lnb closest to the ladder. If you follow the wires the last lnb on the other side is 28e. 42 and 39 are on the bar but not wired up.

Would like to give 7W a bash if its possible or would I need to change the 19e (centre) in order to get 7w close to the sub dish? Might mean getting rid of 39 and 42.

Has anyone managed to get 7W working on the t90?

Any thoughts

is a lot tidier than mine I'm centred on 19.2E and I can get 5W OKish (little rain margin), but I haven't tried 7W. The other end I get 45E pretty well.

Cheers HB, that gives me hope for 39 abd 42e - the 5W, i get good results, infact on the S9, I picked up 83% snr on some tps. well on a clear day. Unsure on rain.

But the 7W - unsure as I cant remember if 7W is possible on a T90

The most obvious answer to your 7W problem is that you probably need a seperate dish. I have 5W to 16E set up on the Penta. I've just tried for 7W (off the end of the bar and holding the LNB in my hand admittedly) and I can't get a trace of anything. One thing does make me wonder though, why did you put one of the strongest satellites at you dish focus? Given your spread of sats at present, I'd be tempted to focus on something nearer the top of the arc, maybe 5E. That would bring your western arc closer towards the centre. You'd more than likely have sacrifice 39E and 42E though. This is part of the reason I ended up with four dishes to cover as much arc as I could.

I get 7W on a motorized 78cm. Regarding 39E and 42E - remember that I'm a considerable distance to the south east of you

I guess when i first started we went for 19e in the middle to get a good spread of everyhting and I had planed to get another dish, but not sure to sneak in another T90 without the family noticing. Thats would of got me my 30W to 0.8 sorted asweel as my 42 to5E.

I will take a photo of the other side of the house and see if anyone can confirm if another dish would be possible T90 wise.

Other option is to get a 2nd hand (from auction site) 1.1M dish and put 7w and 5w on that is that possible?

On my 1M Gibertini I've got 12.5W, 7W and 1W. I used to have 5W next to 7W but the only way I could get it to work was to attach the 5W lnb to the 7W LNB with a pipe clamp. The pukka Gibertini holders preclude anything other than about a 4 degree separation. 7W is at focus and I get most tp's 24/7 but the weaker horizontals only come in strongly after dark. As HB has said bear in mind how much further south we are in relation to you. Search on the forum for info on dish sizes for 7W in the UK.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the T90 if I were you. It's a great bit of kit but it's relatively expensive and heavy. You'd get better performance and flexibility out of a motorized 85cm, for example.

I will check dish pointer and a few other places, but the 7w info is so patchy depending on where you get the info from and how accurate is it.

People saying 80cm to 2m will get you 7w, but where did they get the info from?

Go to Lyngsat and check the satellite footprint for your area. This will give you a signal strength, measured in dBW. You can then check the table at hxxp://www.radsat.co.uk/satellite_tv/antenna_sizes_for_eirp_outputs.htm for example to see what size dish you're likely to need. Note that this will give you some guidelines rather than hard and fast rules since there are many different variables at play.

Thanks HB, but the 7W only shows footprints for the Altanic, I can only get the E sats to show nice colourful pictures over the UK. I guess not sure how best to use lynsat.

I will put a thread on as sure there will be some local boys who are in the areas close to me receiving 7W. I will get the advice and report back.

Ah, OK I see what you mean. I'll check tonight what I can get - according to the maps I shouldn't get anything much with my current dishes.

And lose zapping? Anyway it's a bit late for that now - he's already got one. And personally I'd have the T90 over a motorized 85cm any day of the week.
