EDIT - split from the Cape Verde on 7E thread A/S

Ooh I want this one - its been a long time since I had a new country :D

Weather forecast quite good for weekend so will have to have a good go!
Perhaps request a QSO card from the station like the good old days of cb/ham DX!

The last new one I remember was ORTC from The Comoros on 10 East. 10840 V 3255. Bit weaker than Cape Verde here 8.5 dB. Do you have that one?

Yes I get that one under good conditions.

St Helena was my best ever qsl :D

I have two from St Helena. But they are bettered by one from VLQ9 Brisbane, domestic ABC station 10 kW on the 31 metre band. That was from sometime in the 1980's if memory serves, they are long gone now.

Ah yes I remember the Caribbean sounds of the Windward Islands - 15045khz from memory. Great fun listening to them

I also used to listen to World Music Radio which used the Radio Andorra SW facilities in the late 1970s :D

I can't remember the Voice of the Carribean but I do have a QSL from WMR. Also in the Carribean there was a short lived shortwave service from Radio Grenada. Before the Americans invaded. I never tried for a QSL.

I get the impression perhaps wrongly that some of the CB or ex CB fraternity may not be aware of anything outside of 27 MHz and the ancient and venerable hobby of Short Wave Listening.

The 16,19 & 31 metre bands were very productive in the 60's & 70's used to pick up a lot of CB activity + radio New Zealand & Radio Oz below & on the 11 & 13 Mtr Bands,
Now it is so much easier to listen to them via my Roberts Stream 83i Internet Radio with no fading :-bighappy

I know this sound odd, but it was much more exciting then! I am sure you know what I mean!

Yes it was & you learned a lot from it like putting up a 50 foot long aerial for HF or attempting to bounce signals of the moon in the 2 mtr band great fun.
