* Mark unlockable transponders and ACM/VCM.
* User-defined freq ranges selection in Range tab. Predefined ranges defined in ranges.txt file.
Thanks for these are improvements that I quietly hoped to see one day!
See attached my ranges.txt.

Also big thanks from me to CrazyCat who undoubtely serves steadily the DX community.

Does this mean that now the TBS 6983 is far better in all fields than the TBS 6925 so that nobody would miss anything by selling the old card ?

As far as I've understood the speed of blindscan is much faster.
Is it comparable to that of the pretty fast Technotrend S2-1600 ?

And what about the weak signal sensitivity ? Does the new card beat the old ?

Sensitivity is very good.
Blindscan is very fast and accurate (BLScan2 mode).
Classic blindscan mode (BLScan) comparable with stv090x.

Spectrum analyzer not very good (slower and etc.). Maybe RF part design in AGC line not very good. Or this specific behavior stv6120 tuner.
So stv6110/stv090x is better as spectrum analyzer.

A BIG thankyou from me too CC
Not very well atm ..but hope to get a chance to test with my new TBS card soon..

OK with TBS 6983 latest beta, e.g. 12341H Stream 40.

Hi,

Some months back I was considering a TBS6925 but just noticed the 6983. As the feature list looks very similar but with dual tuners - it seems a good alternative considering the price is almost the same.

One caveat; I'm running Linux, and wary of dropping £200 if a lot of the features aren't accessible...

Is there any table/breakdown showing which card features are supported by the software/drivers of each OS? Or could someone list any key omissions on Linux? Any issues with blind-scanning, spectral analysis and constellation plotting?

Hi CrazyCat,

Thank you once again for providing us the tools we need and continually update them to our benefit.I thank you also for that you have thought now at 6908 card.Perhaps for this reason, this version(1.0.2.115) of CrazyScan for both cards(6983 & 6908) no longer lock transponders with signal, but were locked with previous version(1.0.2.112).It is the result of a compromise that you made that Crazyscan be used for both cards?
For me an advantage which it has previous version(1.0.2.112) is the fact that it shows me the signal which cannot be lock.It would be desirable to keep this feature in upcoming Crazyscan versions.
Here's how shows RF with the latest version of Crazyscan(115) on both cards and then the one made with previous version(112).As you see in screenshots, on the first, the signal is reduced by a few dB, whereas with the last is increased!

This is not related to CS. This was bug in carrier search algo for STV091x and fixed in latest StreamReader :)

Yes, me too, I prefer the version with the bug. for Dxers it's more than a bug it's really helpful

The TBS 6925/5925 works well in Linux using updateDVB, has Spectrum scan and Blindscan and constellation monitoring. Kernel, modules and dependencies to compile to be found here -

https://bitbucket.org/updatelee/updatedvb

I've asked UDL if the TBS 6983 drivers can be included in his next commit.

Spectrum scan etc. with a TBS 5925 -

That would be great :)

So it looks like there's a fair to good chance updateDVB will work with the TBS 6983 at some point - so I think I'll go for that.

Thanks

This unreal because no open-source driver for stv6120/stv091x :)
