^^^ also ordered stuff today, 2 max twins, XO-12 & PRO-2, to test if they may be of any similar quality to the single. Would like to have a good twin on my 28.2 dish.

If the sky is clear BBCHD is ok but not ITVHD and C4HD, all SD channels are ok except 4seven .We don't miss much but did have to download the first two episodes of Beck because BBC four SD goes away in bad weather. My wife studies the TV guide and records the stuff she really wants from the best regional signals on vertical transponders.

Interesting to see that it can be such difference even in short distances, we are only about 90 km apart...

Astra 2E UK spot fringe reception nulls are notorious, as sat. viewers ( non uk residents ) living in close geological proximity get different reception results, take also into account 2Es daily wobble.

Right combination of dish, lnb, tuner and fine tweaking can help; ongoing theme here.:-rofl2

Otherwise streaming is an option:eek:

Replacing our Foxsat with a Technomate F3/5 did improve reception of the weaker signals.
I have easy access to the dish and a threaded rod between the balcony rail and the Lnb holder which allows me to make millimetre adjustments east or west and those millimetres do have a big effect.

So, a new tuner I have to try out - great!
If someone is interested a have some pictures from the installation of the dish, including the construction of the concrete base.
Also, I have got a SMW feed horn with outer diameter of 58 mm and I would like to try the Invacom adjustable feed horn with 23 mm diameter, any ideas of an adapter?

Streaming? isn't that "spoilsport"? ;-)

BTW, the best LNB I have tested (for C120 flange) is the MTI Compact Universal singel Flanged AP8-TW. It gives about 1 - 1,5 dB better S/N than the Invacom Quad and Inverto Black Pro Quad. It is also better than the twin version of the MTI AP8 (unfortunately...)

About MTI, got a pair of quad high line (this one > http://www.amazon.de/MTI-AK54-XT2N-High-Line-Quad/dp/B0083HERCO) and often tested it on weak signals, not the best (= no go for 28.2 UK here), only good on medium to strong signals. Similar to BU quad's I've got. Also seems more sensitve to raindrops on front than other lnb's.

Just my impressions under local conditions. The twins may be different and better.

^^^ Maybe gain a few crucial %'s (same %'s that makes all the difference on my dish). Good luck.

2e very strong here these days, even in rain. Watching Marshall story on bbc4.

Finally got round to fitting the new Maximum single LNB on my gibby 125, swapped it with the Canal Digital one cable LNBF which performed better than the both the inverto black ultra single and quad.

Weather conditions were dismal light rain, fog and heavy cloud cover, however managed to get ~1-2% more signal quality from this dinky sized LNB compared to the CD one, did not get around to fine tweaking, will wait till weather conditions permit.

My % readings on the techno 5402 Mk2 Astra 2E uk beam were:-

Tp 10803 H Tp10847 V Tp10818 V

1200 CET 72 72
1300CET 66 65
1400CET 60 59 62
1430CET 57 picture break up Tp 10847 V
1500CET 58 -- 60
1600CET 55 -- 58
1700CET 54 picture break up TP 10803H --
1735CET -- -- 53 picture break up Tp 10818V

Forecast for better weather the next few days will try to do more testing and tweaking then.

THX 4wd for the tips

^^^ So another good report for the xo-11 midget.
Am using a rainhood, gaining a few %'s Q with a dry front cap.
The Maximum twins I ordered are in the post, will test next week.

Anyone tried the Maximum XO-14 quad? Tempted to try one sometime to compare as the best quad I've tried so far on my setup in Helsinki is the Opticum LQP 04H. I need three outputs minimum so have to go for quad versions for 28E.

Testing Maximum twin. Ordered two different models, hoping one would be good. Opening the post package finding two different boxes, labeled xo-12 & pro-2 ...but LNB's were both the exact same, just number on lnb sticker + boxes differing! Strange.

And none of them were like any pictures on the website when ordered. Nor matching xo-12\pro-2 pictures on ebay etc. Could have returned them, but not expensive so kept them anyway. The build, lightweight so as to believe it's all empty plastic + 2 plugs :O)

On 2E (dish adjusted to that sat) with low evening signal + rain... good stuff. Quality %'s similar to single xo-11, = a stable picture out of minimal signal, testing against MTI highline quad and IBU quad who gave 'No Signal' (no amount of adjusting helping).

So looks like it's time to get a 2nd cable from the 120cm and dedicate a twin receiver to 28e, to make more use of recording.

THX for testing update, pity no significant improvement from the dinky single. As you say not worth the hassle to return pricewise:D

More metal/FG is the answer, but streaming is the future:-rofl2
