If you mean which guitar, it would be the acoustic as it's the easiest to grab. If you're asking about what I play, I'd like to play like Joe Bonamassa or Eric Johnson, so on the electric it would be blues or rock (if I had a better guitar and a tube amp). On the acoustic it's usually folk or acoustic rock, pop from the 60's etc. Singing along, I can clear the house of cats in less than a minute....

I ment both :-)

A tube amp would make a lovely addition to the kit.

JJ Cale always used a valve amp and Eric Clapton did. But he idolised JJ.

Sad but JJ passed away last year.

I don't think you'll find many serious musicians (or even pretending to be) using anything other than valve (tube) amps. Certainly for gigging they are the weapon of choice. My little Fender amp is only a practice one and as such is digital and does amp modelling. TBH, it doesn't sound great and I wish I'd paid a bit more for a small two channel valve practice amp.

Valve amps in general are very pricey. But sound great.

I know some hi-fi companies are trying to make a valve/solid state amp.

To so called give the perfect sound, but as yet it's only the Chinese that have them.

Is that a PRS guitar? I almost bought one once.
I have a diy ~30W tube amp but it's too loud for home practice and not powerful enough to play with a band. I'd like a digital one for headphones and line-out. Not that I play much nowadays.
I disagree that tubes are a necessity but big speakers might help.

In case nobody figured it out, my nick refers to Jennifer Batten. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNQK9RpOloc

Yep, but 'only' an SE Custom 24 (Korean built), I couldn't afford an American one and that one was around the £500 mark. I don't think guitarists are concerned about how loud the amp goes (though it must go to eleven LOL) but how hard you can drive the valves, to produce 'that' sound. And yes, probably running into a 4x12 will help....

CH..we were talking about valve guitar amps..though building your own hand wired one would be possible...can't see someone like Slash playing through an old radiogram....

The Weimar radiogram does have a separate input, just in case Slash wants to play some riffs with his mug of cocoa

I had a pair of Shanling SP80C valve amps (there's a pair on fleabay for 2600 euros) that had been modified and the pre-amp stage removed. They sounded fantastic and glowed when used in a darkened room :-)

The only music I don't listen to is this shit that sounds like a car alarm!

Otherwise just about anything, I have a thing for patsy cline,

If I hear an auto tune singer/band I tend to turn off.
