win 10 is a travesty of an OS, and windows outlook mail, is beyond awful
compare it to win 7, (no doubt the best OS Microsoft ever released) i, like many, was a win 10 beta tester and it seems ALL the bug reports i submitted were completely ignored..
its true that win 10 is far more suited to a tablet environment, but why not stick to win 7 for my PC ? well that becomes more and more difficult, what with the "App" only approach to many things,
i am really disappointed with Microsoft these days, but not enough to go to Apple :)

I beg to differ. Win XP was the best.

And CH would no doubt disagree again and say Win 98 SE...

Well, as someone who binned Windows in favour of Linux years ago, circumstance led me to get a Win 10 two-in-one some moths ago.

And as regulars will recall, I find Win 10 to be excellent. No issues at all, and a joy to use.

I've been using Win 10 for a couple of months now and I'm still happy. The only issue I have is a couple of times the display has lock up when running old XP-era software but it seems to recover after a few seconds. Just had the "big update" last night and it's still working, so fingers crossed...

This is coming from a die hard XP user for 14 years.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

My only, er, "serious", I suppose, use of Win10 is on a keyboard PC that came with it and flat out refuses to install an alternative OS, the start menu annoys the hell out of me, the anniversary broke the OS and had to revert itself, everything looks flat and dull like someone just used Paint to draw something that looked like windows 7 without the three-dimensional style that had been a mainstay since Win3.0, and of course, the spying aspect, not a fan of 10...

And yes, I know there's aftermarket ways to fix all those issues, but, why the hell should I? You don't buy a brand new car that you have to repair the engine and bodywork before you can drive it, it should work right out of the box without having to have things installed, uninstalled, blocked and skinned, I can certainly understand why Which? condemned it, it's blummin' awful...

Apart from the spying issues, the major issued faced here was/is with my wife's (now) W10 Home Premium m/c which now stalls when trying to upload photos to Facebook (and so she is having to do that via her Android tablet) - and I can't find any reports of it happening to others and solutions to this problem, and so I don't know to try to fix it.

I also agree that the general quality of the W10 display is lower than it was on W7 HP on the same m/c - very bland and lacking colour.

Fortunately I turn my sound off by default so my ears are never assaulted by such noises. In fact I'm not even sure if Win 7, 8.1 or 10 even have a noise!

All was well with my Spysoft w10 testing (classic shell + O&O ShutUp10: download free antispy tool for Windows 10), then the latest GB's of update hit, something went wrong with that one on the Lenovo laptop.

After ages downloading and installing, goes to 99% then 'could not complete, reverting, undoing changes etc', and stuck in this endless install\revert\undo loop if allowing automatic updating. Good Grief. And yes, tried without any extra programs running. Total reinstall next... A positive, at least the reverting and subsequent endless install attempts loop works :O)

With those 'complete os replacement' socalled updates there is no way (that I know of yet) to try to figure out which part of the update creates trouble. Ahh, already missing the good old days of individual kb's, where on could pinpoint any troublesome individual update kb, choose not to install and\or wait for a fix from ms or pc manufacturer.

Windows 10? No Thanks! I'm sticking with Windows 7 and XP. In my opinion, XP was the best and Bill Gates and Co. should have stuck with that. :D

xp was a great basis indeed. If only they could offer something like xp 2016, modernised & updated vs security etc, fast basic os (old xp goes like a rocket on modern hardware!), no store\cortana\(cr)apps\spy(tele)metry etc, to run ones choice of great windows programs. I'd gladly pay good dollars.

That would be brilliant to "reboot" win xp :-)

true chris, it doesn't even have IE's saving grace, the "add to favourites" star ,
all very poor these ultra minimalist browsers.. they might look good, but are good for nothing.

Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome is far superior to Microsoft's internet explorer. :)

At least the Anniversary Update gave Edge what it surely should have had since the get-go:Add-on Support.

Like Chris above, I'm a diehard Firefox and Thunderbird fan, so these were the first Progs I installed on Win 10.
