well guys a bit of success tonight i ran the coax from c band side of 621 and used the tecnomate 5000 dapci receiver and set 22khz to off with lnb setting to ocs and entered freq manually,lo and behold i got a signal not good quality but good enough to work with, found tele africa and then...

yes vs in the plaza st 550 universal is set with 22khz to auto and fixed, if set to c band it can be switched and stored on or off, so i take it i need to store same satellite again and scan c band like you said
