    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

I accept the principle of your arguement and your analogy with books is interesting because that is exactly what happens if there is a demand for a book that cannot be purchased legally. If you read your history books (no pun intended) you will know that in countries that have imposed...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

I suppose it depends on what you mean by legal! Sky for one would say its not and cut-off the viewing card for being used outside of the UK on "Breach of Contract" grounds. Never mind the transmission license which depends on local requirements, don't forget that anyone using a Sky card...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Polomint I go along with most of what you say but would like to add that (as I understand it) there are many, many of these rebroadcasts taking place in Europe, in fact anywhere there are Brits and therefore its more than likely the same thing applies to other nationality ex-pats, its just...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Jacko I have just read on the web that a good log periodic is frequency independant to a much greater degree than most other types of terrestial antenna and this is probably why they are used microwave re-transmission installers. BFN, Carlos

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Chris, this is really a follow up to my other postings on this whole subject of re-transmission and the more I read the more intriguing it gets! I have been told that although the frequencies are different for each transmitter they are nevertheless all microwave frequencies over 10GHz and...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Jacko Our local installer is using a Log Periodic PL325 made by FR of Italy but it does not have quite enough gain for me as I am on the fringe of reception and therfore get an intermittent signal which is very frustrating, hence my interest in alternatives. Carlos

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Steve Very informative, please let us know how you go on. Can you also look at the software to see how the reception frequencies have been modified to enable reception directly from a terrestial antenna without an LNB. The latter, as I understand it, converts the transmission frequencies...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

I am a bit confused, on the one hand we seem to be talking about frequencies in the range 1.0 to 2.4 GHz (say 1.5 GHz mid-range) and on the othe hand 12 to 15,000 MHZ which is 12 to 15 GHZ is it not and, as I understand it, the antennas used are quite different for these two different frequency...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi Jacko Did you succeed with your quest? Don't know where you can get an FR antenna but can you or someone else please explain how an antenna for 470 - 900 MHz would pick up a transmission at 15,441 MHz or whatever and why use a wideband antenna? I'm really interested in this one as it seems...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

Hi John, Any chance of digital pici of the antenna/dish arrangement as discussed above and any idea of the overall gain? Carlos

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

It may sound like like a bum question but could the system ignore the decimal place? In other words is the frequency 1,563.3 MHz which is 1.563 GHZ is it not? If this is so it would then be consistent with the commonly accepted microwave frequency range of 1 - 2 GHZ, only a thought. Sorry, it...

    rebroadcasting of BBC signals etc

I think you will find that your pici is of a LP45HV antenna made by FR of Italy. According to the data sheet it is a band 4 & 5 antenna which covers the frequency range 470 - 900 MHz. I shall watch this thread with interest, Carlos

    Large dishes

Hi Channel Hopper Wanted to get back to you sooner but could not find your posting after my initial read - still finding my way round the forum! So far my attempts to get a 2.4m + dish at a sensible price have come to naught:- Ciberland won't deliver a big dish to Lanzarote but if I can...

    F2V, Changing Boxes & Sky +

Hi Rolf, please tell us more about the earthing requirement of multi LNB's to different villas (my little group each has its own earthing system, there is no "mains in" earth). Also "flanges & LNB things" as I have to admit to not being 'au fait' with LNB/mountings in that there seem (to me) to...

    Large dishes

Hi Bax In view of my failure with Ciberland (won't deliver a large dish to Lanzarote) I would be interested in learning more about the shortwave option as I think I could well be in a direct vision line with the transmitter and and I don't think its too far for a microwave so I will call you on...
