Sorry, mate forgot all about my posts here. I've gone for a non motorised setup for the time being to save some money and I went ahead and did the install myself. Didn't have time to finish the wiring but so far have the t&k galvanised bracket, pole and dish mounted and aligned to 28.2e. Went...

Can you not edit the file /etc/vfstab or /etc/fstab and include the drive to mount in the file, should then auto mount?

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Whoops, too late now as I've got the thing installed. Should have really gone with my gut feeling which was to get the TD88 as once the dish is installed it doesn't look that big. Similar thing happened when I got my 42" plasma, a month or so later I was wishing I had got the 50" instead. I...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

An update, went out and ended up getting a TD78, t&k galvanised bracket, 50m of triax tx100 cable and an inverto ultra black quad. Getting the pole was a bit of a problem, some of friends are in the building trade an I thought they'd have scaffold poles laying around but alas there were none...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Some people are gong to call me a wimp but I prefer the I want to make my life as easy as possible. :) Right I'm going to have to forsake the motor for the time being as my car has come up with some unexpected work :( and I'm also going to have to compromise on the dish itself, now I'm thinking...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Pole in garden was a non starter, my wife for some reason just thinks dishes are ugly, hence the reason for trying to hide the damn thing :)

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Right I think I've got shopping list. I'm going to get a Penta 85cm dish as I think, correct me if I'm wrong but for their size they don't look humongous? 18" T & K galvanised brackets 6ft of steel scaffold pole TM 2600 motor Questions I have are: a) Would raising the pole say 2ft above the...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Looks like 85cm might be the smallest to go for, wife's not going to be happy. Also from the 1st pic 1w will be doable won't it? I've found a german site that stocks the Gibertini 85cm for around 40 euros but that site doesn't have any motor names that I recognise. Reading here it seems that...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

So would an 80cm dish be able to pick up the sats I've mentioned above? Or would I need to go to 85cm?

I've gone out and already purchased a DM800HD clone without doing much research, am hoping that it will be able to drive the motor without any problems or issues?

Japan earthquake - where's America in all this??

Luckily for us the satellites aren't simply flown in space and left to fend for themselves else you're right we'd have to do constant adjustments to the dishes so that I could reliably watch reruns of Terry and June :)

Japan earthquake - where's America in all this??

Who do you expect these things from Obama? Yes the is the President of the USA with enough fire power to incinerate parts of the world but why would you expect him to put on a big hat and announce that he's in charge? As said by others actions speak louder than words :)

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Another question and again I've done lots of reading but what sats are the 1's that most people use, I know 28.2e, 19e, 13e and 1w but are there others that are worth a gander? What I'd like is a small list so that I can check them on the dishpointer util on this site so that I can determine the...

What dish to get and fixed or motorised?

Which corner do you mean? I was thinking of simply hoisting the dish around 2 foot above the line of the gutter but some of the arc might be obstructed by the chimney? How high would the dish need to be to ensure that the ridge of the roof is cleared, on average?
