Thanks Rolf,
What I would really like to know I suppose is what's possible in terms of encrypted channels with a suitable Cam, cards, software etc. I have seen the Dreambox, but was under the impression (without reading much on the subject) that it wasn't really an entry level option. I shall...
Hi all
I am proposing to purchase a receiver with cam slot this week, (my only experience thus far has been FTA boxes and Sly Digiboxes).
I am looking at getting a Samsung DSB A200-c as I've seen these for a very good price (€140), or something called a 'Sky Pilot'. Does anyone which, if...
Thanks, I've not seen that one before, it looks pretty accurate from what I've read and experienced (limited) myself. Certainly more representative than the official SES Astra version.
Yes, I've seen this website, and very good it is to. No conclusive answers to this particular issue that I have seen though. I think your correct about the formation of the footprint, however why does the shape or/and relative position of the footprint vary throughout a 24Hr period? Incidentally...
Schnuffi, The weather certainly does play a significant part in received signal strenghth and consequently the duration of the 'window' for which reception is possible. However the point is that given stable weather conditions the signal still varies throughout the day, in a pattern that is...
Here on the Costa Blanca the Pace 2600 and MTI AP8 series LNB seem to be the items of choice. However in direct comparative tests the Pace performed no better than a 100 Euro ultra budget FTA box from Carrefour. Of course if you want Sky and ITV etc you need to buy into the cartel and get...
It can be seen from S.Ferrairo's research http://idd009rc.eresmas.net/ that the 2A North and 2B North variations are almost exactly equal and opposite. These 2 satellites reside in the same constellation so any earthly variables can presumably be ruled out. What is involved in the repositioning...
Dave
I don't think I understand the analogy you're making. If we assume that the satellite is the torch, if it's in geostationary orbit why should the surface area it illuminates vary? It should be noted that these variations are predictable in so much as the time at which the signal falls below...
Carlos,
The dish we bought was a 1.85m offset. The 2.4m that it sounds like you're considering is a prime focus, however I suspect it is also made by Tecatel, (Tecatel and Ciberland are about 5km apart). Tecatel have the 2.4m with extensions to 3.1m on their website (http://www.tecatel.com)...
Ciberland did have a girl who spoke good english last time I was in there (December), I guess she's still there. We purchased a 1.85m offset from them, however we live locally and didn't incur any shipping costs. We actually picked the dish up from the factory (Tecatel) ourselves. Interesting to...
First Post!! - Has anyone properly (i.e. in terms of dBs) plotted the variation in signal level of the Astra 2D signal in Spain? I’m sure many are familiar with Stefano Ferrairo’s excellent work on the variation in 2A/2B North transponders http://idd009rc.eresmas.net/, has anyone plotted...
