It looks like a satellite receiver to me - if not what is it?

I've always thought it a load of garbage until I moved abroad. I still wouldn't pay a sky package, but £500 to get a 2.1m dish fitted and over 2 years I get all the ftv channels at about 20 quid a month.

Thanks for your help, although being new the system is not yet letting me view my private messages as I have insufficient posts.

I've just installed a 2.1m dish above my flat in Prague and now need to obtain a digibox (have one on loan for now and BBC works a treat). Viewing cards - plenty on ebay, are they worth buying? do they have a finite life or will they keep on decoding forever? Any recommendations on what boxes...
