Hello all,
What a fascinating thread. I have not waded through all of it. But reading the earlier posts regarding how to build a dish, I thought I'd draw your attention to these people on how the make large circular molds.
These people are pros at creating large molds. This is the way to...
Thank you Huevos for putting it into plain English for me.
As you can see I'm a newbie on this. Still I'm hocked on this satellite stuff. :)
Any suggestions where I can read up more on the subject on the net? For newbies of course.
Thanks..
Yes I have a good stable lock and I can get the BBC, which was my primary objective.
However I cannot get good signal quality on Astra2a. 10% I was suprised at this as the footprint charts show that it should be easier to get astra 2a than astra 2d
Hello
The signal quality figures I quoted are readings from my satellite finder. (Horizon HDSM USB Digital Satellite Meter) Good quality. I trust the figures I'm getting from this device.
Sorry I didn't make it clearer where my signal quality figures where from.
Hello all,
Thank you all for your input. Great forum. :)
I just noticed that this thread has an error. I'm talking about signal strength, but I actually mean signal quality. Still my digital lnb works fine even though the signal quality is lower (25%) than what the analog lnb is producing...
Sorry to bring up this old post,
As you can see the problem was that the lnb was an old analogue.
I've recently installed a digital variant and now I can view channels on astra2d.
Now I'm only getting at best 25% signal strength with the digital lnb compared to 60% signal strength with the...
Unfortunately the dish has to be where it is otherwise I'm going to have to ask the neighbors to cut their trees down. The site is located in a depression, so it's shelterd from the really strong winds. The winds here just swirl around through the trees.
I guess a wind break is the way to go.
At last I have managed to get my 1.8m prime focus dish and MTI AP8-TW 0.6dB lnb locked on to Astra2D from latitude 63 Sweden and picking up a good signal. Quite chuffed about that.
However now I'm having problems with the wind! When moderately windy the dish wobbles. Someone suggested I drill...
I you are right on that one. Very probably was used in the analogue days.
Here's a couple of photos of the LNB that worked on the old metal 1.8m dish, that gave a 10% signal, but was watchable..

So I have a LNB that works, but will not give the correct frequency that my pace skybox needs. So what can I do about this?
Is there a sky box that is compatiable with my dish/lnb setup? Is there a reciever that can be adapted to what ever signal the dish picks up?
So if I want to watch the...
No I don't have another receiver to try. Well I have a "canal digital" box, but these receivers as in the pace box are custom build for their satellite vendors.
I don't understand, this sat finder is an expensive piece of kit, I figured if it is showing a lock on astra 2d then it is locked...
