    AMIKO X-FINDER 2

I have a SAB X-Finder 2.0 (rebadged AMIKO X-Finder 2.0) and, as a part-time dish tweaker, have found it perfectly adequate for my purpose. Certainly far more versatile and useable than the SatLink 6830 that I previously owned!! Check out/download the manual via my OneDrive link...

Attenuator blows up 2 Freesat boxes

On the other hand, a black cable will absorb the heat of the sun more than a white cable and therefore may cause internal degradation of the insulation (i.e. melting!).

Astra 2G: Iberia & Balearics Reports

I agree with you. Here in Menorca (on edge of the Barcelona null), a number of us using 1.65 mtr dishes have lost the UK spot beam channels. Same thing happened last winter with things then starting to return to normal (for us!) towards the end of March. Thank goodness for my Android internet...

Astra 2G: Iberia & Balearics Reports

All good here on the west of Menorca at the moment. Mind you, will need to see what happens this coming winter before I can say things are better than before. Last winter the footprints of 2E & 2F UK beams moved enough to put Menorca further into the Barcelona null. This lead to loss of a number...

    Need a new meter!

I think you'll find that most new batteries need to go through 2 or 3 full charge cycles before they achieve their rated capacity Brian.

    Astra 2G: Testing at 43.5°E

Won't be too long now before this thread can be locked and a few new ones opened. Waiting to see what affect 2G will eventually have (if any) on 2E and 2F UK spot beam side lobe reception. Menorca is on the edge of the Barcelona null so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be detrimental!!

    Astra 2G: Testing at 43.5°E

Ah, ok. Many thanks for the clarification provided. I see that http://www.satellite-calculations.com/Satellite/Catalog/catalogID.php?40364 have caught up and now show it at 43.5°E!! Regards

    Astra 2G: Testing at 43.5°E

I guess I must be missing something because, whilst this thread is titled "Astra 2G: Testing at 43.5°E", www.satellite-calculations.com/Satellite/Catalog/catalogID.php?40364 currently shows 2G at longitude 45.6°E. Can someone please explain? Thanks.

Installing Dishes In Spain for 2E Chit-Chat

Yes and no! True when preventing the possibility of electrocution but different if you are dealing with very low voltage RF or AF signals over long cable runs. Earthing both ends of a screened cable increases the possibility of introducing electrical noise due to an earth loop. There are many...

Installing Dishes In Spain for 2E Chit-Chat

If considering earthing the LNB then either earth it at the LNB or at the receiver but not both. This will prevent the possibility of earth loop interference being introduced into the antenna feed. In Brian's case it would be more convenient to apply an earth to the receiver's chassis if it...

    Quick set up Javea

Would strongly advise against getting the Inverto Black Ultra Twin. Consensus on this Forum is that it's a real dog!! Best Inverto for the fringes by a long way is the Black Ultra Single, followed by the Black Ultra Quad. I have personal experience of the following LNBs: Inverto BU Single -...

Costa Blanca, 2E/2F, seasonal signal fluctuation.

Seems the sidelobes are on the move again in my favour. Astra 2E/2F signals here in Menorca are starting to return to what they were last spring/summer. :)

    BFBS Television

Thanks for the update zorbua! Straight Street in 1962 was quite an eye opener for a "wet behind the ears" 18 year old like myself!! Part of the "Becoming a Man" ritual for all young service men visiting the island for the first time I guess. :D

Ah Malta! My first overseas detachment after graduating from RAF Locking in 1962. Fond memories of me and a few colleagues checking out the local bars in Straight Street (the Gut) the first night after our squadron arrived!! :p

    More advice needed from Ibiza!

There are a number of threads on this forum in which the relative performance of the Inverto Black Ultra Single, Twin and Quad have been compared. In each case the Single performed best whilst the Twin consistently came last. Consensus of opinion is that, for fringe area reception, the single...
