Thanks Llew, that nailed it. I changed the LNB setting from "advanced" to "simple" and that fixed the problem. A scan then pulled in over 1000 stations. You're right, the "factory default" setting does seem to be for some utter bizarre configuration.
The box arrived yesterday afternoon. So far I've got everything working except satellite TV and I could use a little help.
Here's what the box thinks it is:
After far too much faffing about (there was no documentation with the box, nothing, nada, zilch) I discovered that the tuner wasn't set...
If you do that, do you have to turn the LNB to skew it on the other side, or does that get cancelled out by it being upside down?
(Not sure I've explained this clearly enough)
Ah ha! yes, that sounds right - thanks
It does mean that my dish os too big, as the feedhorn beamwidth
is calculated to be 133 degrees - so the feedhorn is only "seeing"
2.1 metres of the dish. :-(
I'm using a C120 LNB with an Invacom ADF-120 adjustable feedhorn.
The datasheet. for the feedhorn states it has an adjustable beam width
F/D of 0.32 to 0.43. Now, the calculator here tells me that my 2.4m dish
has a F/D of 0.38, OK so far. There are 2 graphs on the datasheet.
From the first...
I'm in the same situation as Gary - except I've just got my hands on
an Invacom QDF-031. It comes with a page containing 4 graphs
for the noise figure and gain response for each of the 4 ports.
Worryingly, the graphs are labelled
Port1 vert low
Port2 horz low
Port3 vert high
Port4 horz high...
Noted, thanks.
Yes, I agree about the instructions. Since I was assembling it on my own I built the frame
frst then added the petals one at a time (making sure to add them so the whole mess
balanced) rather than building the dish and then attaching it. Getting some of the
bolt-holes to match...
How I wish I had internet access at my place in Spain. I was out there at exactly
the same time, with the same dish you have (Fortec 2.4m). I took my Pace digibox
with me and spent many days over my 5 week stay trying desperately to get any
kind of reception.
The annoying thing was I also had a...
