    which DVB-S2 card?

I've got the Hauppauge S2 card and it works flawlessly. At the moment you don't even need an S2 card to get HD so if money's an issue why not get a Compro VideoMate S350 DVB-S Tuner PCI Card for £25 which apparently works flawlessly and wait for prices to come down or things to change.

Experiences of Windows 7 Media Center and multi-satellite reception?

Doesn't work for me with motorised set up. Simply won't change channel. Setup does not allow the assignment of disecq preset numbers referring to different satellites. Only 1-4 for switched setups.

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

If you go to transponder scan I think it picks up the other satellites too. I can't remember properly as I realised I didn't want to do it and then have a thousand channels to edit in that clunky interface. I stuck with my usual satellite. Sorry for lack of clarity.

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

x86 version here. I bought the full version of DVBviewer - I didn't like the cut down version which came with the card because I'm using DiseqC motorised dish. Try the manufacturers' forums ans submit a 'support tool' report to Digital Everywhere. Best of luck.

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

Wow, I'm very impressed. I just booted up into Windows 7 Beta 2, plugged in my FireDTV and loaded the Beta driver they've brought out for TV pack in Vista. I installed and opened DVB viewer 4 and saw that BBCHD was working. Closed the program. I then opened HD in Media Center and went to set...

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

I'm very pleased with it. I wanted something that was USB or Firewire because I have a Silverstone slimline HTPC case which won't take any cards. Also I can take it with me more easily when I go to France. I set up a motorised dish and DVBviewer handles the (DisecQ &) USALS commands with no...

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

OK I've got it all working! Can't quite believe it... After a lot of head scratching I got back out on the roof and reset the motor to 0 pointing roughly south. Using my purchased copy of DVBviewer I then I simply entered the USALS type settings 'go to angular' and satellite name when...

Diseqc confusion - FireDTV & DVBviewer

I have just installed my first motorised system with a view to getting HD channels and recording them on my PC. After a 'lucky beginner' start where I instantly got BBC HD tuned via diseqc, my setup seems unwilling to tune into any satellites at all. I have the Dissecq module designed for...

    Motorised dish, flat roof, N.London

I got it working! Thanks everyone... I had trouble to begin with because I was using ProgDVB to measure signal strength and quality and nothing was coming up at all. then I realised you also had to tell it what transponder to listen out for. I think as a newbie you imagine that it's going to...

    Motorised dish, flat roof, N.London

Today was supposed to be sunny. We got the dish in place but it got dark before we could finish it. Can anyone explain what the declination should be set to on the dish ? The scale says 80 minus x but the Motek leaflet talks about 40 minus x. Dishpointer gives me (for my location)...

    Motorised dish, flat roof, N.London

OK today's the day - I'm all ready to go on the roof. The only thing I'm confused about is the bit where I'm searching for Thor. Presumably I'm going to tell the receiver to tune in to Thor 1W which will move the motor to 1W. I jiggle it all around till I get the best signal and then tighten...

    Motorised dish, flat roof, N.London

Now I've seen the T & K brackets I'm not so worried bout getting it vertical. If I thought it was going to take 'several hours' to manage it I might think twice however LOL I still haven't found a motorised dish package that I like. Buying things separately seems to add up to too much. Ideally...

Tecnnisat SkyStar USB2 HD vs. FloppyDTV S2 which is best for PC?

I like the look of the Skystar, prefer USB2 to firewire, and like that it is an external box with CI slot. But I am still waiting to hear if it works with VMC TV pack. I need to have recordable subtitles and TV pack gives me that.

    Installation in Romford

I would be interested to know how it went and how much you paid. I'm looking to get motorised in North London.
