Anyone tried to make BIG dish at home?

fta-elite very nice construction, something to be proud of. Should give you many good years of service. Have you thought about adding a Ku LNBF to see if you will get anything?

Anyone tried to make BIG dish at home?

Yes, I believe that an offset starts out as an offset section of a larger true parabola. However, measurements of Winegard dishes have their horizontal edges tipped in from a perfect parabola. I understand that their may be an attempt to improve issues with cross polarization that all offsets...

This example defines ray trace between the parabola and catenary. LNBF focus can be assumed better with a parabola. However, I have found that offset dishes tend to be catenary while prime focus are parabolic.:-gnome

Unknown dish? - re-assembly - anyone recognise it

channel hopper is right on regarding the petals and seams. I have seen some commercial dishes that have filler pieces for Ku. C band not so critical. You should also try to use a flat Ku scalar like the Invacom. SatelliteAV sells a good and inexpensive Ku for prime focus dish. Nice pics, have...

Anyone tried to make BIG dish at home?

If one would make two one meter prime focus dishes with long F/D (shallow dish) it would be interesting test. Adjacent satellite rejection would suffer it would seem. Very interesting subject digihoe. Yes, two offset dishes with their elevations tipped inward and some experimentation with feed...

Anyone tried to make BIG dish at home?

Could work for analog signal but not DVB. 1 mm KU or 5 mm error and nothing will work. Besides you have to time the signals before you can combine them if using more then one LNBF. So if idea is to use four offset dishes in X array, then one LNBF would be fed from offsets of these dishes. Maybe...

Fixing C band LNBF on a ku band channel master 1.2m Dish

You did a nice job of fabricating that bracket. Have you had any luck with getting the Ku section to work? Minimo claims if you extend the Ku section back using a 1/2" metal spacer it works great.
