When you exit the reciever goes into an "auto saving mode" but it just doesn't work.................

Does anyone else have the same problem as me??? I go to channel sort (so BBC 1 is on channel 1 ect). I follow everystep in the manual but if I put the unit on standby, when I turn it back on the channels are as they were before I sorted them into the order I wanted. Please someone help...
