I phoned the guy in the local satellite shop, because I don't have a long enough ladder plus I don't want to get on the roof. He doesn't think that a minidish will be big enough to get a decent signal. I'm living in Sevenoaks, Kent. I already bought the universal LNB as well. I could ask them...
Hmmm, slight problem. I'm not sure that the dish will clear the house next door at its current height. I presume it needs a clear line of sight - in which case I might need to put it on a pole. Not going to happen tonight!
Do you mean 33.5 Degrees from where it is currently pointed (sky) or 33.5 degrees from due south? I'm getting slighty confused with the convention here. I'm used to 360degrees. thanks
Can I also borrow your ladder?!!!! Just joking, it's on a pole on flat roof, which I hope can bear my weight.
So I finally got round to buying my kit. I have a universal LNB and I have bought an old Pace MSS100 from ebay. I also bought a Humax freeview/PVR which is already working well.
I'm trying to get the satellite dish working tonight and I just want to check where to point the satellite dish...
For the channels I want, these are all on analogue, so I'll probably stick to analogue at the moment. I was outbid today by 39p for an MSS100! I'll keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks if they come up regularly
I've bought a universal LNB and have been trying to get a PACE MSS100 on ebay. Can anybody recommend other good, common second hand recievers to go for? Either that or does anybody have a PACE MSS100 to sell?
I went to my local satellite TV shop, and told him I wanted to access French TV channels in the UK. He said the options were to get sky and TV5, or to get a TPS card and a digital reciever. I asked about using an analogue box and he said that this broadcast is due to be turned off this month. Is...
Thanks everybody for your help. Sorry for being impatient, I'm new to this idea of bulletin boards. It's a brilliant idea, though, I wouldn't know where to start. If I buy French kit and bring it to the UK, will I only get black and white pictures?
Is anybody out there? 40 people have read this thread - can anybody else help please. As you can see, I'm new to this. I'm happy to read a more basic introduction to satellite if someone can recommend a source - thanks
Thanks for the info. Ideally, I would like a digital solution, because I would also like UK freeview channels and I haven't got a box to do this yet either. The video has also just packed up, so a box with a PVR would be even better. Is there a one box solution for all this? The people who...
