    Download on a 3m dish and re-broadcast locally ?

Since you've got a direct line of sight, the best solution would probably be a microwave link between the two locations... This is fairly cheap & easy to do for a single channel. But as Rolfw suggested, things get much more complicated if you're trying to relay the raw signal from an LNB. Cheers.

    Dish required-Rome Area

Oh sorry, I must have misread. For a moment there I saw a glimmer of hope... But I guess that getting a teleport-sized dish is the only solution. :( Ciao.

    Dish required-Rome Area

Hi Meatball, Are you sure that a 1.8 Meter dish is sufficient for Astra 2D? I've spoken to some folks with dishes of that size here in Rome and they've had no luck getting 2D. A 3.8 M dish is a whole other story, obviously... But I'd like to exhaust all other options -- short of moving North...

    ASTRA 2D BBC & ITV RECEPTION-Non-Technical

Not exactly. VideoGuard is a product of NDS, which is a firm owned by News Corporation (parent company of Sky, FOX, etc...) Sky isn't their only client though: NDS VideoGuard is used by broadcasters throughout the world, including DirecTV in the United States and Telepiu' here in Italy. Cheers.

    Astra2D in Rome

Thanks Expat2!! Good luck, and let us know how the test goes next Saturday. At the moment I have a 1.5 meter Offset dish here in Rome... I was never able to get anything from Astra 2D. :( And judging from other reports from this area, I'd say that anything under 3.8 meters is too small. sigh.

ASTRA 2D BBC & ITV RECEPTION

Hi Expat2, I'm afraid that the bare minimum for Rome is going to be 3.8 meters. Although we might have to go all the way to 4.2  to get a strong signal at all times...

    Astra2D in Rome

Thanks mick1539, please keep us posted. It looks like the move to 2D is still on for the end of this month, despite all the behind-the-scenes bickering between Sky and the Beeb. :( I can't say that I'm looking forward to having a 4 Meter behemoth of a dish in my backyard, but I'll do whatever...

    Astra2D in Rome

Hello, Yes, I have a garden with ample room for one of these monsters. ;) At the moment I have a 1.5M fixed dish on the roof, and a 1.2M motorized system in the garden. I have asked around, but couldn't locate any installers that seemed experienced enough to put together such a system. And...

    Astra2D in Rome

I'm in Rome as well, and would consider getting a 3.8M dish if it enabled me to keep the BBC. Provided, of course, that the 2D beam does not get any narrower come June. So if anyone could recommend a serious, professional installer in the Rome area I would greatly appreciate it. Cheers.
