    Think I've damaged my Motor

Light bulb moment! Whilst looking at Lyngsat I made a discovery. What my receiver thinks is Hotbird 13 is actually Astra 1F etc @19.2 Hence why it can't see Astra 2 @28.2 but it thinks Astra 3 is Astra 2 Also if I send it to Astra 1 I get Astra 3. Doh!! I blame the numpty who set up the...

    Think I've damaged my Motor

I wasn't sure what to set the Elevation as. The instuctions said. Set the motor scale to your Latitude Set the Declination angle according to the table, mine showed 22.6 or something Then underneath it said set the dish angle to 30 degrees So which is it 22 or 30?

    Think I've damaged my Motor

Cheers Robbo Yes I used Rolf's guide, it is excellent. I am at 51.663,-0.694 (Nr High Wycombe) On the motor I choose 52 as the Latitude In the Fortec Mercury I entered 51.7N and 0.7W as it only allows 1 decimal. I will have a further play with it once this wind calms down! I think there...

    Think I've damaged my Motor

So I got the replacement motor, exactly the same but a different name. Tested it out before climbing out onto roof all ok. Double checked pole, etc. Tried Thor 0.8w but couldn't get any channels. Next I moved the dish to Hotbird and picked up Astra 1 (opps a few degrees off me thinks). Quick...

    Think I've damaged my Motor

Thanks Robbo I've now tried disconnecting and reconnecting and I've tried a different receiver as well (A Porty I got from Lidl some time ago) as I saw that in a thread about a duff Moteck unit. I'll see what Maplin will do for me. Don't want to have to send the whole lot back! It arrived in a...

    Think I've damaged my Motor

Hi Folks Bought one of the motorised satellite systems from Maplin. Fortec Star 90cm disk Fortec Star HH120 motor Fortec Start Mercury II Receiver Got it all setup ready to go. (Check pole was straight, pointed Due south etc.) and choose Thor at 0.8w as my nearest to south sat. Went out onto...

    ID cards in the UK

As an avid watcher of those Police-Crime-Stop type programmes that appear on the BBC and SKY on a daily basis, the number of times they stop people who they think are disqualified, these guys then say "I'm John Brown(or whatever)" and the police spend the next four hours trying to find out who...

    2 Receivers via 1 Dish/LNB

The basic problem is that signals are sent Horizontally and Vertically and also LNB's have two tuning ranges (which I will call Hi and Lo for simplicity) So if you tune a channel which is Horizontal and Lo, you cannot tune a channel which is Vertical and Lo for example on your second box. I...

    Multi LNB Setup

True, but I still want to subscribe to Sky and have Sky+, and don't want the earache from the wife when her "24" fails to record because the dish is pointing at Hotbird! and I don't really want to have two dishes. Thanks for the advice. Chris

    Multi LNB Setup

That Visiosat is a lovely looking dish, but by the time you have added the extra arm, you are close to the price for a Force Toroidal (which is a dish I seriously considered then ruled out to try to keep some back for a better receiver). What I may do is make the system up over time. Start with...

    Multi LNB Setup

Those Raven dishes look good. Tell me, as I already have a mini dish bolted to wall already, would it be simply a case of removing the minidish and putting the new dish onto the same pole? Or would you need to get a pole/mount specifically for the raven dishes?

    Multi LNB Setup

I took a plunge and bought one of the £70m Lidl systems, and am pleased with the results, so I am looking at a more permanent multi sat system. Currently I have Sky+, it takes two feeds, I have another digibox in the kitchen which takes 1 and a SkyStar card in a PC in my loft, which is used...

    Portable Satellite Receiver

Got my lidl camper system today. The Comag is quite nice and well worth £70 by itself. The extra dish and wiring is ok. My kit had the f-connectors missing, so the max signal I can get is about 59%. (Check the box before you buy). I bought mine from Lidl in Slough and they had about 30 of them...

    DvbViewer

www.dvbviewer.com Click on ordering, send them 15 Euros and they will send you a username and password to login to download. There is a free version the Technisat one for download, whether this will work with your Airstar or not? Also I found the Technisat one was cr*p and fell over, whereas...

Will you be subscribing to Topup TV

Fair comment Rapido. I too looked at the Tele2 TUTV deal, and very nearly succombed. But I plan to save the money for a motorised dish instead. Perhaps in the future, if the government was committed to digital tv and broadband by satellite, your landlord would have to let you put up a dish. My...
