    Astra 2F: Pre-Operational Discussion

yes, EPG now working on 11023.

Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

Last epoch was on November 20, at that time 2f was on 28.3345 E. The rest is all calculated without feedback of the real position of the satellite that hit the brakes. Apparently, no visual confirmation has been possible since then. (weather) Consequently, all the 'real-time' trackers are now...

The "DTH platform issue" could also just mean " Sky's helpdesk understaffed to cope with the complaint from abroad" :-DOH2

11023 is lower for me too. From 14.5 dB in clear blue sky to 11 dB now in the drizzle. 'Normal" BBC1 HD is only about 2 dB lower.

Can the Canaries receive the new 2F west-Africa beam at 12522 s/r 27.000? see announcement on multi tv: _http://www.multitvworld.com/upgrade/

I read the same report from Bulgaria, signal much weaker. Moved to 2f PE beam?

Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

@ Wally: you are way out of the beam and with the sharp cut-off at the edges this is probably the new normal for a spotbeam.

Yes, to make it really impossible for Tenerife to watch UK TV they will/might re-use the UK frequencies on the WAB.

Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

True, but a minor issue at the provider could stall the migration. You don not want two (or more..) issues at the same time. Solve the problem first before you might introduce another is normal operating procedure.

    ´´DTH platform´´= A.K.A "provider"= BBC/BSKYB. Someone is apparently having 'an issue'

Still 14 hours to go (CET) before the start of November 27. Plenty of time to 'empty' the entire 1N satellite should they want to. But do they want to?

I'd like to see your calculations. Astra satellites are 0.01 degrees apart (check kingofsat) and that only applies for a location at 28.2 east. A 3 meter dish in Spain etc is used at minus "x" degrees and from that point of view an Astra satellite is never more that 0.01 degrees apart. The...

Astra 2F at 28E (at last!)

No, you are not able to do that. The distance between satellites is around 0.01 degrees. The opening angle of a 3 meter dish is about 0.6 degrees. Way to big to notice any difference between satellites.

It means their setup was not brilliant, but the strong signal was camouflaging that

So you use a smart dns server, that works fine also. :-biglaugh
