So ..here we go ..
I now have a working Magneto Optical drive ...
Arrived this afternoon ..
No longer need persue the original with scsi ..
cos surprise surprise ..
this one is IDE ..??
I didn't know they ever made one ?
Works the same way ..
reads both PD cart and CD ..but no need for a CD adapter cartridge ..
An excellent buy for the money ..
Came shrink wrapped and tested ..2017..
device dated 2001 ..whereas my old scsi unit was 1996 ..
happy days ..
Gonna need that PCI to IDE even more now..
lol

The first PD I checked contains what is probably the best PC golf game I ever played ..

32 courses ..if memory serves ..courses by Pete Dye ..
a Sierra game of quality ..and is all there including the installation..

The second disc is full of music ..
some of which I haven't heard in a long while..
I think it was a sound investment ..
..and absolutley no degradation of data ..
PDs may not have caught on ..but I suspect they will outlast any CD ..
perhaps not Mdisc ..but only time will tell..
lol

Both bands had members that were accomplished instrument players, flutists among them, which is a common link in the woodwind tracks.
