Toffee Apples? Our tesco has all the bloody christmas sweeties out. They will probably have the damn easter eggs out next week...
Isn't '"early Christmas " being "addressed" in another thread:eek:.

I'd take my 80cm down but I haven't a clue how to get it back up there tracking the arc accurately :D

Is the 'move your dish to 1w before strong winds' saying a myth or something that is actually worth doing? Its only scheduled for 46mph down here in Romford but you can never be too sure.
actually when i had my dish sorted out by the engineer, he told me that it actually better to have it on astra 2 because of the skew of the dish when its pointed there

I've never bothered removing my dish or scribing/tippexing marks. Like Lazarus says, usually the motor and dish assembly move round the mast and it's a matter of a quick realignment. As far as 'parking' the dish, I've sometimes left it edge on to the prevailing wind (for me, usually at 42E). Next year, when I hopefully put it on a ground mount, I can easily remove the dish face if there's a real full on storm forecast..

That's why it's a very good idea to use ground mounts wherever you can - much easier/safer to access than mounting "somewhere" up the side of a building (all my dishes are like that, except the 28E one , which is on the conservatory roof and relatively easy to access (courtesy of my neighbours!))

Engineer? I think not.

And what he said makes no sense at all.

Our local ASDA has Hot Cross Buns on sale. Mind you I don't think they've stopped selling them since last Easter.

Ditto for our local Tesco - my wife likes hot cross buns but I hate 'em .

it does to me because basically when my dish is parked on astra 2, the wind isnt blowing on it directly it justs misses it because of the skew of the dish

The forecast for down my way is now just 40-42 mph (was 55 yesterday) so I'm not as worried about Brian as I had been. The dish took a battering of at least 80mph last year and I was amazed that it was still tracking perfectly afterwards.

Only up to 30mph at the moment. Fingers crossed everything remains intact.

Glad my dishes are low down and sheltered behind the fence for these winds coming up! They’ll probably need a tweak afterwards but I’m hoping not too much as I’ve just had surgery..

Fireworks this week are because of Diwali :)

There might be a storm surge up the Thames, with a high tide coinciding this weekend. Romford is not a million miles from the tidal stretch.

Storm Brian: 'Weather bomb' set to bring 70mph winds and heavy rain to UK this weekend

Just watching BBC SE News - any problems with Brian are likely to be tomorrow rather than overnight.
PS: we are only 10-15 miles north of you, so hope they are right!
