Oh I don't know about that. I'm not out in France at the moment but only about 30 miles north of there 2F was romping in on a 60 cm dish last summer; even on a level with Cahors a Sky minidish is working (when it's not raining at any rate) on 2E. I daresay that there's little margin at Gourdon at 60 cms but I suspect the report is accurate.

From my observations MOST people north of a line from Arcachon through Cahors to Grenoble are unlikely to notice anything amiss, with the possible exception of those with a 45 cm minidish.
Some people further north have reported problems, but generally with poorly-performing dishes.

The pin for near to Herault (near Lodeve) is wrong type as it says no spotbeam for 80cm.

AS, would it be ok to post a link to the reception map on a couple of ex pat forums? Mainly to reassure people in Northern France that nothing has changed for the worse here...

Thanks for the welcome.
I used to be a real sat enthusiast years ago in the days of D2Mac etc but have gradually drifted away and now I'm only a "civilian" viewer. The technicalities are all new to me. I suspect I'm going to have to go the IPTV route as I need to get Irish TV as well and those channel seem to gets little attention in Ex-Pat forums. Any info or pointers via pm or otherwise would be greatly appreciated. Her indoors is missing her soaps and I can't hide in the shed for much longer.

Being as there is no report from Ireland, here's one from Mayo....
I see that 2E is slightly weaker on the UK spot than 2F
2E is around 82%
2F is around 98%

The problem is that Saorsat is Ka-band and *very* tightly focussed on Ireland (the island). Even people in western Wales with Ka-band kit have trouble getting it. Any further afield and any signal would be swamped by adjacent signals directed at France (which also has a Ka-band service in places).

Just an update.

No change in my hardware, but HD channels (BBC1, BBC2, BBC News etc) have some pixelation on all tuners, so likely that 80cm dish here is just on the edge. All SD channels fine.

Awaiting ITV HD and C4 HD changes, and will report again.

Update now the moves to 2E for ITV and C4 are complete.

All SD channels fine, 95%-100% Strength & Quality.
ITV HD (London) and Channel 4 HD, same readings and no pixelation, perfect reception.
BBC HD Channels, as stated yesterday, regular pixelation, but signal readings 90%-100%, so maybe a slight tweak needed!

Latitude 44.993, Longitude 0.945, (about 120kms inland from Bordeaux, on similar latitude).

TBH there's little of interest there (although for expat Irish I imagine it would be great) unless one wants to see Eastenders and Top Gear umpteen times.
.

About the *only* benefit is RTE2 for the UEFA Champions league coverage. They tend to have the Wed night game which ITV doesn't.

I live in Andorra, no spot beam on my 1m dish.

It appears there is a dead spot over Catalonia and very southern France. Can anyone clarify?

Clearer skies today and now I have all channels OK on 90cm dish MTI LNB, be interested to see if some pixelate this evening as I'm getting more a sense that a 1.2m is going to be the optimum in this area (Var). Difficult to compare days as it's been so overcast the last week.
