For me the Sky news are the opposite, ie 501 SD. I can receive all the others.
It depends if you subscribe to the HD channels or not as to which way they EPG shows the channels.

Thanks Timo.

The cynic in me comes to no other conclusion than Sky's changes were calculated at best. What is it that they are trying to achieve I wonder. Is it just some equally cynical ploy to weed out the Canary dwelling subscribers because there is a financial implication to them, Sky, at some later date.
The footprint map on the SES site suggests that the Canaries will have reception on a 1.2m dish from 2F, the fact that I am getting nothing at all of the channels that have recently moved, leads me to believe that the move has not been to 2F but elsewhere, irrespective of what SES have said on their facebook page. From previous experience, whether it be my location or the quality of the LNB, many people have been surprised at the quality of reception we were getting whilst others were seeing nothing.
Prior to the moves, we were getting 18 basic sports channels, plus a few insignificant others. Of the principal 16 channels which I list below, 11 have been lost.
Marked in red are those that are gone, which were all available, green are still, for the moment, operational.

I get the impression that as football has been largely catered for on Sky 1 and 2 HD that all will be ok on their toxic horizon.

I'm still convinced that they have put 2B channels on 1N PE beam, I hope I am right because if they HAVE put them on 2F and they can't be received on a 3m then 'we're all doomed!'
If you look at the official SES 2F PE footprint, it reaches the canaries quite easily so gx6000, for example, should easily receive them on a 3m dish. I realise that receiving fringe signals is not an exact science of course.
The 1N PE beams, particularly PE1 don't come anywhere near the canaries with strength that could be got with a 1.2m such as we could/can with 2B and 2A south beams therefore the 'theory' is that 2B has gone to 1N.

Thats my excuse and I'm sticking with it. :-beer
Any thoughts from those who have more knowledge of satellite workings than myself?

At present, your opinion is as welcome, worthwhile and valuable as anyone else's!

The only thing that is certain is that no-one is certain.

Yet.

Evidence one way, evidence another way, evidence interpreted differently ..................... not enough consistency and corroboration.

Im digging through the posts but im pretty sure that in Southeast Europe there is equally reports from people who cant get the " mystery beam " when they should according to the official footprint maps if it was it 1n PE(1) .

The channels have moved to the PE beam of Astra 1N. This is 100% sure.

They will move to Astra 2E when it's launched, I would guess the swap will be around May or June.

I agree with milestone 11
I always wondered when sky would make it so we have to pay a extra 10 quid a month for HD without the option of SD to receive the sports channels.

SES changed the footprints for the Astra 2E. According to this, the Canaries will be in the 90cm area of the europe beam.

Pretty sure the 2E footprint has been like that ever since it was first released on the website.

Yes, likewise: Same (or similar) notional Canaries spot (For what reason, I'm not at all sure) as 2F.

Just for your info you can get Sky Sports 3HD on 11.739 V 29.500 3/4.
But because of the symbol rate you cannot add it to a Sly HD box. You would need a HD box that can read a Sly card & the HD package.

Ref the 2E Euro beam map ... Yes it has always been like that , but interestingly its not a duplicate of the 2F footprint.

For me the 2G footprint is much more interesting as it reaches Helsinki and it's totally different from the 2F/2E ones which are fairly similar, but that's a topic for another thread.

Tweets from Jerez are saying "Massive" news on sky Sports F1 tomorrow. Also £9.99 pay per view. Hopefully on SBO so that I can cancel my subscription.

Finally had time to do some signal checks.
1.35x1.25 dish with black ultra (originally optimised for FIVE group on 1N). Scan carried out using technomate 5402HD Blind scan and Vu solo
Picked up all the following:
11222H
11224V
11260H
11261V
11307H
11307V
11343H
11344V
11389H
11390V
11426V
11428H
11720H
11739V
11758H
11778V
11799H
11817V
11836H
11856V
11876H
11895V
11914H
11934V
11992H
11973V
12012V
12032H
12051V
12285V
12342H
12382H
12460H
12480V
12523H
12523V
12560H
12560V
12607H
12607V
12643H
12643V

also got a quick look at a 3.7 mtr dish (but not a perfect one as think was originally 1 piece but cut for transport and then joined) and it looks like the 1N PE transponders (assumed) were no go ( barely visible on spectrum) but the 2F transponders had lock and were stable but with not much margin for error (about 8.0 c/n).

So it looks like 1N PE is just about impossible in the canaries whilst the UK PSb channels may be possible IF 2E has an identical UK spot to 2F (although the lower frequency stuff was always harder in the past and we could not get the verticals at all on 3-4 metre dish on 2D where the 2F vertical is about 10% up on the horizontal (comparing c4HD with FIVE).

I guess time will tell especially when the 2 series PE beams come into use and 2E UKspot. Hopefully will get more subscription channels come July/Aug but think 24/7 of the UK spot will need at least 3.7mtr and possibly larger. Lots of 1.8/1.9 dishes still being installed over here (not by me I add) and expect they may be disappointed especially when the guy next door with a 1.2 (or less?) will get exactly the same channels!!!

Well the "Massive" news is that the final F1 test will be in 3D. :-lmao I'll be able to watch that, better than a kick in the balls I suppose.
