Wow, can you tell the build date off the serial?

The dish sticker was advertising the shop who originally sold it.

On a side note, the LNB, also dead was red 0.1db with a green cap. Any ideas what it could be?
Take some images.

Update - the dish is definitely ALU.

Makes sense as to why it hasn’t rusted like my old steel Orbital started to.

Here is the mystery LNB…….

The Orbital came up locally and as the motor was included I thought I could move that on for £20-£30………until I tested it!

It feels pretty well built I must say.

Did anyone work out why they were failing?

I know of three types of causes for defective STAB motors:
- corroded flat cable inside (repairable)
- loose F-connector connection on board (repairable)
- shortcircuited IC on board (irrepairable)

But maybe there are more kinds of defects.

The STABs have solid state relays, so no sticking relays with STAB..!

What about the sticker ?
Pretty damn durable.

I reckon the chap I bought it off has moved into the house and taken the dish motor etc down.

LNB and motor being toast looks like it hasn’t been used for years.

The Shop must have been in Sparkbrook by the look of the sticker left on the dish..

A link to the sales advert might clinch it

Certainly is the case. Still going too by the looks.

Regarding touching the paint up. Moonbase suggested touching it up with etchprimer on post 8.

Any issues with doing that just to tidy it up a bit?

If you are decided that it is aluminiun and are going to give it a spray with etch primer you can remove the remnants of the sticker now that you no longer have to worry about the dish being steel and rusting.
If you spray over the sticker it will look unsightly.

Bin fodder, replace it with an Inverto Black Ultra or something along those lines.

Will do, unfortunately the weather looks a bit hit and miss for the next few days.

I did the magnet test on it.

Kind of confirms why it is so light and hasn't rusted like my old steel orbital.

It's dead anyway, I just don't remember ever seeing a red LNB with green cap back 15 years ago.

I have a IBU v2/mk2 on it now.
