yes, but then you need an additional RF reception chip, and it doesn't always work througout the hourse etc etc. Exactly for keeping the cost down, you can implement a super simple decoder (pulse counter) to latch out the current time...Sounds like a good idea, although I suspect cheap manufacturers would ignore it to keep costs down. We've already got radio time signals everyone could use.
I suspect main thing that would prevent this from being implemented is that it's difficult to see the business case.
