Heard a bit of a squeak last night as the H180 was running..
Needless to say panic set in ..
This morning took a positioner outside and hooked it up..
Everything I could tighten inside the motor was nipped up ..but those damned screws do loosen periodically..and this was happening long before I started modding..
I have a tube of Lithium grease which I have damned near emptied onto every moving part I can reach ..which sadly leaves a few I can't..
Not sure if it was particularly cold last night ..but only once did I hear a hint of a squeak when tracking extreme East to West and back again..this morning.
So my question for experts as this is not my area of expertise at all..
What is the best and most penetrating grease I can get ?
I need to get some into those tricky places so need some way to inject as well as smear ...
Can you guys help ?
Recommendations re greases and application would be most helpful.

Probably a syringe would be the best thing to inject grease everywhere. An O-ring grease is my weapon of choice.

Just out of interest, how much weight do you think that motor is driving now? I know the dish itself is just under 25kg but with eleventy one LNBs, support arms for support etc. must take it at least 10kg over that.

can't check the weight it's now carrying but it must be substantial..
Perhaps double with the exoskeleton and the lnbs ..
I'd guestimate around 40..
But the elevation jack should help with support backwards.
I can lift the dish assembly by rocking it by hand if the elevation jack is released .
Oddly the squeak was only heard at the apex of the arc ..not the extremes.
If anything I'd have expected the opposite.

..as an afterthought ..
I can't find my manual so can't check max load ...but the Motek H180 which is similar will take a 2.4 mtr dish (usually 100kg +) ...which is why I figured my system would be ok ?

To free off really old engine parts that have rusted solid I use a 9 part diesel to one part petrol mix and leave immersed for about a month or so

See if you can dissolve the lithium grease into another medium. make up a bucketful of the stuff and dunk the whole motor into it.

Thanks CH ..but not sure that will be neccessary ..fingers crossed.
No squeaking heard at all since the Lithium grease application yesterday...though I will get a large syringe for future application.
I suspect this will be an on going maintainance thing.
watch this space...

Been cutting corners again..

No really ...not shoddy workmanship.
There were 2 extreme west positions stored in the Vbox and since the elevation frame was added the dish transit was limited..
So out came the angle grinder and corners were cut in the 5mm steel..
both sides the same ..but only the west side shown.
Single stepping it was possible to get to the first of these 2 stored positions after the cut...
61W
But 63W the other stored position was too close for comfort so was erased.
This doesn't mean I can't get at it ..as the stored positions were done with a centrally placed lnb at the focus ..
the Ku is now offset by about 3 degrees ..so I should be able to access 63W ..
Safe to say my limits with a focally placed lnb are now roughly 60E to 60W..not that I can see past 45E at this time of year.
A small touch up with Hamerite on the new cut steel ..and we're good to go.

Spray grease may be the answer, comes in an areosel with a plastic flexi tube. various types of grease availible.

But enough about your Bad Education viewing preferences, what about the motor outside ?

You can now refer to me as ' that greasy sod vipersan'..
Having ordered a 3kg tub of Lithium grease ....and a 100ml syringe to deliver it..
My problem is I can't fing suitable blunt needles for the syringe..
Anyone ..perhaps with medical connections help me out ?

I used a rubber tube, the ones you can get in motor factors..
