Their must be multi-spot beams. How could Donegal get the same beam as Dublin and not Belfast?

if you need to pay for the basic package then it's a subscription, not FTV.
with a FTV card you can continue to watch even when the subsctription ends - this is not the case with the RTE channels. They are part of the basic package you need to subscribe to (in Ireland)

Ok guys what has been written by some posters has not been what I have experienced in the past. I personally have cancelled Sky subs in the past and the card has become a FTV card allowing me to watch RTE1/RTE2 and TG4. So this morning I contacted Sky to find out if it is still possible to view these channels freely in Northern Ireland.

The answer is YES but the situation changed a bit after May 08. A lapsed Sky NI card will still open the Southern channels, but they disappear from the EPG, all you need to do is manually scan them in. If you dont have a lapsed sky sub card you can get a FReesat from Sky Northern Ireland card for £25 and again this will open the channels, again manual tuning is required..

This was the situation at 0950 hrs today according to the sky rep I was speaking to.

That would explain it then, alough there seems to be conflicting views from sky. I got the same answer from sky, they told me it had to be manually tuned but when I did this they are still blocked.

Does anyone have the frequencies in case im using old ones?

AFAIK, there's only one set of frequencies in use.

Now this is strange. Presumably you have a subs card and it's a NI one? Has it expired or is it still current? ALthough this should not make a difference from what Tom says.

I suggest you get back in touch with $ly.

Incidentally, from what Tom says, with a valid subs card surely you should have these channels in the EPG?

They must be blocked in some way as Rep. of Ireland subscribers can not access UTV on the EPG and have to tune it in manually. RTE etc start at channel 101 on irish subs.

You're absolutely sure of that? If so it's either a special NI thing or they've made a mistake. Can you view ITV2 HD?

Because C5 HD isn't FTV. It's supposedly only available on at least a minimum $ly subscription - unless that's now been changed.

C4 HD is FTV

Ah yes, sorry, you are right of course. I was getting mixed up with FTV and non-"HD pack" HD channels...

Yes it has as Ch 5 HD insisted on it being FTV for a indefinite time probably hoping after that peeps will subscribe to it like ITV2 HD.

So you're saying C5 HD is FTV not minimum subs?

I don't have a $ly receiver so am only going on what I've read. Can anyone else confirm that C5 HD is encrypted to FTV level?
